Dear fellow Toastmasters & friends
The Rotary Club of Damansara-West is organising an Intergroup 8
Meeting/ Buka Puasa Fellowship followed by an informative and
meaningful talk by WWF on Save Our Seafood, followed by a screening of
the film End of the Line (short version 20 mins).
About Save Our Seafood Campaign and the film The End of the Line
End of the Line is the first major feature documentary film revealing
the impact of overfishing on our oceans, which premiered at the
Sundance Film Festival in 2009. Scientists predict that if we
continue fishing as we are now, we will see the end of most seafood by
2048. Imagine an ocean without fish. Imagine your meals without
seafood. Imagine the global consequences. This is the future if we do
not stop, think and act.
Driven by our insatiable demand for seafood, Malaysia’s fishery
resources have been over-exploited and almost 90% of Malaysia’s
bottom-dwelling fish stock has declined in some fishing areas, due to
unsustainable fishing practices, pushing fishery resources to the
verge of collapse and damaging the environment in the process.
It would be a pleasure if you could join us on the day. Details are as follows:

Price: RM25/- buffet
RSVP: By Wednesday August 25th, 2010.
For our Muslim friends: a prayer room is available at the club to
perform solat Maghrib.
