What in the H E double hockey sticks is wrong with this country when a mother is suing McDonalds because they use common advertising practices to sell their product.

Shouldn't a mother be teaching her child how to manage her impulses.  How to control her emotions.  To not break down because she "wants" something she doesn't need.

What's going to happen to kids when they grow up and those advertising practices are used to sell them a car, or home, or other significant purchases?

Will they learn it is not their responsibility to manage their diet, to manage their finances, to manage their life?

That's ridiculous. We don't eat at McDonalds more than a couple times
per year, but sometimes there is no substitute for greasy, salty fries
and a few gnarly McNuggets.

Hmmm, maybe that woman needs to get rid of any televisions in the
household! I assume McDonalds still does
tv ads... but we haven't had access to regular television for at least
5 years!

Just yesterday, we had an interesting discussion at work about stress
and coping, as it applied to neuroscience and behavior studies. But
of course we all joked about how we should use these things to prepare
ourselves and our kids for life! So true. If you aren't exposed to
some level of adversity or choices along the way, you sure don't learn
how to cope with decisions or stress.

Couldn't agree more.  Between the politicians telling people they are too stupid to be responsible for themselves,  and the people demanding that the government take care of them,  those of us who believe in freedom and self-determination are a rapidly shrinking minority, except in rural America it seems.
I think it was Ben Franklin who said people "who give up freedom for security will have neither."
