Hi all,
Just giving all of you performance folks out there a head's up that
TOPS 2011 will be held May 20-23 in
Colorado. There will be 3 days of agility, rally and obedience and
one day of earthdog on Monday.
For further information, go to http:// www.RMATC.net and click on
TOPS. This event will be the 3rd one of its
kind. Lakelands were very well represented in 2009 with Lisa and
Carter and Shel with Miss Jocey.
We're sure hoping to see Janis and Cassidy as well as others this time
around.
I have volunteered to be the Lakeland rep for TOPS trophies. I'm
hoping the parent club will approve my
donation request. Additionally, I will also sponsor other trophies
for lakies on my own. It's a wonderful
experience to see terriers only having so much fun.

Hmmm, tempting... but I was planning to wait to hear if this one goes
well.
TOPS is really an awesome place to see and watch all the terrier
breeds, and only
terriers, in performance, in one place. I just loved that part of
it. And great people.

I will say that this one is planned at the Douglas County Fair
grounds, a fairly new facility within Colorado. About 1/2 hour drive
from Denver. It is located in Castle Rock. Dirt floors, lots of room
outside.

It is one of the places on my list to compete. My senior Mom has gone
a few times and felt comfortable.

It certainly seems like a convenient location. Although, I did like
Greeley- easy to navigate,
a nice walking trail along the river right there on the grounds,
etc.

I'd like to see more of Colorado!

Is the earthdog event far from the fairgrounds?

Not sure about earth dog. The view of Castle Rock is good from this
location. I am sure on down the highway there are places to see and do
some walking. In the fairgrounds themselves there are nice places to
walk, but no it is not the same type of area as Greeley was.
Your email gets me a bit more interested in the sourrounding area, I
am going to ask around and let you know.

Hello Lisa and Janis,
I hope you both will be able to attend. Unfortunately Lisa,
the Earthdog events are a ways "up the road" from Castle Rock--
same location as in 2009.
This venue has received raves from some of my other earthdog friends
who compete in rally and agility.
I will be vendor chair and plan on lining up some decent vendors.
Need
to find out what kind of space they have available, etc., so that
could
mean a field trip to the fairgrounds to check it out for myself.
Will keep you updated.

Lisa, this is really a great venue, location wise. Greeley is much
more remote. I am VENTURING a guess that the earthdog location is
going to be at MaryLou Wilde's abode, which is in Parker. It would be
about a 30 plus minute drive from Castlerock. Leisurely drive though.
She has the entire set up on her property. If that turns out to be the
case, let me know. Nice venue. SERIOUS terrier people. Hotdog stand
too! Castlerock is a very nice area to hang out. Would love to see
you guys out here again. Janis, BUG me to attend this! I'll even help
set down those jig saw pieced floor mats. ha ha. Bonnie

oops. JoLynn.....saw your post AFTER I mentioned MaryLou's place.
Where was the location in 2009? You've got me curious now!

Hi,

I just checked out the website. It's too far for me to travel from Georgia and I'm between competition-ready dogs but maybe in the future. I hope it is a very successful event.

I hope you will consider adding tracking to the events. I've been training two of my Airedales and enjoying it immensely. I know of other terrier trackers as well.

Check out 'A is for Airedale,' the 2010 Airedale Rescue

year to take it home :-).

Hi Bonnie,
I thought the earthdog tests were going to be at Bob & Charlene
Gann's property in Rist canyon, just NE of Ft. Collins, but it may
indeed be at Mary Lou's. I'll check on this. Her place would make
a lot more sense.
Since there are only 15 electrical hookups at Douglas County
Fairgrounds, I'm sending in my RV reservation now. LOL
Linda, I believe this year they're going to offer herding for
Airedales,
Kerries, and Wheatens. The tracking may be a ways down the road
before it's offered too. I tracked with my first Airedale in the
'70's and
it was a blast.

JoLynn,
The Gann property is REALLY far away. Can't imagine they'd have ED
there. That would not be so good.
Linda.......tracking. Didn't even think about that! That would be WAY
too cool!
If Douglas County uses strictly dirt floors, what did the club do with
those expensive indoor mats they bought? Ouch.

Hey Bonnie I will be sure to keep you informed on TOPS 2011

When you come to the next MIM class you will recognize the new floor
in the training center. It has been nice to have; the dogs are running
faster.

So THAT is the floor Helen put down!!!! That thought crossed my mind
but I didn't think it could be the same. Expensive lesson for RMATC.
Maybe Porter will remember the scent:)
DO keep me posted on TOPS. Bonnie
