hey there!

I would like to make t-shirts for my lego league team.  Does anyone have some time to help me burn off a couple of screens and get it going sometime in the next 2-3 weeks?  I want to have the shirts done by the tournament on november 17th.

I have a 'Make Epic Shit' poster that I wanted to screen print for the garage, so I am in for a printing day. I have a screen printing kit queued up on Amazon, cause I am not sure if that is what is needed, but pencil me in for learning the process and making an inking mess one day

@ Mike: you know we've got a four-color manual press up in the loft,
right? If memory serves, we've got ink and such, too.

I'd like to relearn screenprinting meself...if I ever get the time.

I'd be willing to teach, and I'm guessing Brent would too...

(Though I'd prefer to wait until we move for a proper class.)

You guys wanna shoot for this weekend?

I know of the press up there, thanks Shane, but didn't know the current state of screens or ink... Oh and do we have a burn lamp/box/tardis?

Depending on when this is happening I would like to lean too. I don't have anything I want to make at the moment but I would like to know how the machine works in case I ever do.

I have everything you need to make screens. I would be willing to help out.

Mike, dear god please don't order a kit. You're paying $60 for $5 worth of stuff and half of it will be crap. I can help you source more materials if you need to do more than the one run of shirts.

Also, how many shirts are you looking at? I can order some from my supplier if it's a larger quantity. If it's just a few and the design is simple, we could even do heat press vinyl and save the hassle of making screens.

The space does not have a proper exposure box or washing area. Everything at the current space is just way too dirty to make screens. I anticipate having a much nicer setup at the new place.

Brent, Ifigured on the kit being craptastic, that's why I held off on it... And then used the notion of a purchase to bait you into teaching us the ways of the screen print :)

Pete, I am in for this weekend, however it's Jason's call as I am just piggy backing on his initiative.

Brent, besides that squeegee material you grabbed from the Hack Rack, I still have a big roll at work which we can use to make a bunch of squeegees... I made two last year but we could kick out a ton more at various sizes for the space to have.

I think that would be a great idea. We need various sizes and such. Should not be hard to pound some out with the woodshop.

i could do saturday afternoon (after 2:30).  I need to do ~8 shirts myself, with something on the front and back.  I'm keeping it to a simple single color. Although it would be fun to have more than one color, I want to keep it simple to start.

Brent, for the vinyl option, how durable is it?

Brent,

Having just read the ethnography, I'm convinced that a tee shirt that says "Hegemonic Masculine" would be a great addition to your line up.

:D

I agree, but unfortunately we have found that there is a pretty broad line between great ideas and things that would sell. Most people are looking for something a tad more lowbrow.

the vinyl has been quite durable. Most have lasted longer than the water based inks I used previously. I have no cracking or peeling problems as of yet. If you want to try that, send me the design and I could tell you right away if vinyl is the better option.
