Woo!

We had a great night last night at Bay View Gallery Night!  Thanks a million to Pete for organizing it and for everyone who showed off work, chatted with interested people or even just came by a bit tipsy and shouted at us.  :)

We handed out a couple hundred cards and talked to a ton of people who were interested in what we do.  I expect to see some of them at the next few open meeting nights.

Jason, you need to make a Sonic-Fruit Stand for the next one.

...It'll look like a normal fruit stand, but everything will be wired
up like last night. Seriously, that's something that kept everybody
coming back. :)

It was a seriously successful event: There were about 8 makers who were at the tables for the entire event, and 8 or so more who dropped in for at least a short while.

I was very surprised at the number of people who said "Oh, I've seen a lot of projects on your website!" Many folks were dazzled by the broad array of things on our tables, and I suspect we'll have quite a few more guests at our meetings in the next few weeks!

Nice work, everyone!

Nicely done!

The fruit synth was way more fun than I imagined it would be.

i'm glad so many people liked the fruit synth.  It was fun to put together (i use that term loosely since it was alligator clipped together) and will definitely get a v2 treatment!

Big Big Thanks to everyone who was there, either staffing the tables, or just stopping by to hang out.

I think the Makey Makey showed that interactive pieces draw a lot of attention. They tend to get people involved, and they're fun. I think I learned a few lessons though.

1.  Put the 3D prints next to the 3D printer. A no-brainer I guess, but table space was so tight this was difficult due to the order of events of the evening.

2. More tables! We definitely could have used more tables...

3. Stuff to sell... Some guy bought a 3D print from me, and we could have sold some TARDISes. Maybe we make a nice "donation" box in case people *really* want something we have. (This may require some discussion.)

I'm sure there's more, but I forgot.

jason, do you want to write up a blog post about the event, or just the Makey Makey, or shall I do it, or...?

i can write one up tonight.  I am behind in my blog post quota and need to make up some ground.

That makes me think we need a blog post leaderboard!

Kinda like the one for the Groups page? I just discovered that the
other day!

And Pete: I actually have something to bring up at the meeting because
I was asked if I was selling my boxes and such. I think I have an
idea....

If we are optioning for stuff to sell we could make some really lovely boxes and what not that could be sold as kits for kids, already made, etc.. I'm thinking laser cut wood, plexi, and printed among other things.
