Can I get a ruling from laser cutter experts on if it's possible to cut
rubber from bike inner tubes?

I believe it is, based on some examples I've seen.

But I don't want to try it with our laser cutters unless I get approval
from the owners of the equipment.

I'm guessing it should be just fine. A quick googling shows that most
innertubes are Butyl (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Butyl_rubber), which
is all just carbon and hydrogen - none of that nasty chlorine that is
the primary concern with plastics.

But I'll let the experts/owners weigh in (I have some elastomer laser
cutting in mind myself).

I would set the settings for cutting rubber. I believe they are in the hand book.
