Makers! It's time to share... what have you been hacking on or making?

Reply to this email with a brief run-down of whatever projects have been
keeping you busy, either at the space or elsewhere. Include a photo or
link if you can!

Some custom Arduino based (SMD) boards.. with Audio playback/microSD card socket:  Both boards are more or less the same, but one is to be used for a specific Star Wars prop (DC-17m prop).. (so some of the already broken out pins, have just been grouped together for easier connection)

A new PCB/motherboard for my Barbot project (trimming down the prototyping/spaghetti wire mess to a solid PCB now with screw terminals..etc

I've been working on some large 7 segment displays consisting of laser
cut parts, 3D printed parts, and NeoPixel sticks.

https://rasterweb.net/raster/2022/11/11/neopixel-7-segment-display-part-i/

It's not quite done yet (I've been way too busy doing paying work) but
I'll get back to it eventually.

I rewired Arrakis and mounted the electronics on a hinged panel that can fold up under the table when I'm not doing maintenance on it. It went from 3 power supplies and 2 buck converters to 1 power supply, one buck converter, two protection circuits, and an RGB LED controller. It doesn't sound like it, but it's much simpler now.

Nice!

I finally ordered/used a similar power supply unit for my project (which was new to me)   Had both 12 v and 5v sources to use.

Also used the same snap/terminals!  J

First test run of the combat robot, just a drive and spin test.  This is a 220 lb machine running about 1/3 top speed.
Centrifugal force bent the motor and wheel bearing plates, so its getting stripped to add some reinforcement.

That could cause some serious damage... where're all the saw blades & pointy things going to go?
