This one might be for Shane or Matt....

How hard do you think it would be to make a boomerang on the CNC Router?

The bottom is (basically) flat, while the top would be milled down and
then cut out at the end.

Thoughts?

Easy as pie, man. Let me at it. Which kind of boomerang design are
you talking about?

I've only used the "standard" design myself... though it's been probably
10 years since I threw a boomerang. :)

Let's talk about it at the meeting tomorrow night.

Well heck, let's just have a boomerang making competition then!

But seriously, I think it would be awesome to have it as a thing we can make at the space... a good demo of the CNC Router, and we could, you know, maybe use the laser to etch our logo into it as well.

Some good photos and a write-up, and who knows what blogs might mention it. ;)

Only a portion of the site is in English, but here:

I am totally down for some boomerang action. It will give me a reason to use 3d profiling on the cnc.

I've got two designs ready to fly, so-to-speak.

I might stop in tonight and cut one for a test....

Any chance you guys want to share your files? I built my own 1.5m x 1.5m CNC machine earlier this year, and have only been cutting 2D items so far. A boomerang would be great as a first 3D object.

Please share!

   Thanks,

OK Matt!  Let's see Kuka mill an giant boomerang from a sheet of foam!  Maybe something about 4' long...

Claude:
Unfortunately, the files are 2D.  The idea was to cut them out, then sand them down for the proper airfoil shape.
