I have the new lens for the 60W laser, and plan to install it tonight.

And the new power supply for the 25W is just about ready to go in, once the 60W is up, I'll see about fixing that as well.

We are now a dual laser makerspace!

Both lasers are working, I only did a brief test on the 25 but it seems to be cutting well.

Now that the laser cutter is working I expect Shane (or myself) to make a nice laser cutter donation box for laser cutter donations and put it near the laser cutters for people who laser cut laser cutter thing with the laser cutter.

P.S. Laser!

Phenomenal!  I'll have to stop by and redo my Nerdy Derby parts, as the poor little 12.5W laser didn't get more than 1/3 through the plywood, even after many many passes.

Also, I forgot to mention - Pete has Nerdy Derby wheels and axles (surreptitiously stuffed into his locker last week) available for anyone who needs them.  They're free for the taking, but tossing 2 or 3 bucks into the laser donation box in exchange for a set would make me happy.

i don't think we need multiple donation boxes, for the record.  We can use the donated money as we see fit.

The advantage of multiple donation boxes is to remind people using costly equipment that a donation is encouraged, with a box in front of you you are more likely to put a buck in that go searching for another donation box.

I agree, the money goes into the general fund.

Yes, yes.

Multiple donation boxes that all funnel into one general fund.

Hopefully connected via a series of tubes.

Preferably pneumatic tubes.

Peanut Butter sandwich had a Crowley wheel that he case in aluminum last night... it did not turn out spectacular. People suggested it should be milled.

I can try to get some more printed if I get some time...

There is a bag of wheels for the derby cars on the main lab table, as mentioned by Have Blue.

What software is the new laser running? Is it the same software as the 25 watt or can you easily import dwg files and not have problems?

I wonder if any closed banks would let us scavenge the systems out of them.

I think it is only appropriate that you play Dark Side of the Moon for this evening's event.
