Makers! It's time to share... what have you been hacking on or making?

Reply to this email with a brief run-down of whatever projects have
been keeping you busy, either at the space or elsewhere. And, include
a photo if you can!

reMMinderbot thanks you!

I lasercut a phone tray to use with an arm.

I'll probably upgrade/replace it when I add more GoPro mounts to allow
pivoting in more directions.

I don't know about a steel table, but the pill popper thing was interesting. If you threaded the upper part and added a nut, the nut would stop movement of the plunger to prevent crushing the pill to powder once it pops through the foil packaging.

That's really nice! What did you finish it with?

Thanks for the great  suggestion as soon as the top of the pill is even with the top of the green part I stop pushing. So far I haven’t crushed any pills.

Thanks

I've been working on the glass top for the sand table Arrakis that will make its public debut at the makerFaire at MSOE in September. I am using red oak frame to fit around the glass and will be sealing it with silicone so that if some doofus (probably me) spills a drink on it, it won't leak into the sandbox.

Mark,
Odie's Oil.
Very durable.
I am glad Brady talked me into giving it a try. I have finished a number of pieces with it.

I finally took the time to hook up my dual propane automatic switch to my generator. The problem in doing this is my generator has a built in regulator which has a bleed/purge valve. I'm not about to take it apart. Most all automatic propane switch over switches like this also have a regulator under them but are all die cast and can not really be sawed off. Found on you tube someone who found this type of propane switch that has a regulator that you can cut off and tap the bottom NPT. They are obsolete but one can find one if one looks around. Plus I had to make my own fittings for the outputs for the hoses. I used some epoxy as a sealant on the threads.  I have a propane generator because if one has a gas generator that one does not use for many years the gas can dry up and you are screwed if it is a big rain storm and the power goes out. Propane is kinda a hassle as you just can't file the tank with a gas can so I keep 4 tanks on hand. I used it at least twice and I had to sleep in my family room so I could hear if it was running out of propane. I would have to shut it off and install a new tank. I know at any time I can put on a propane tank and it fires right up. No flooded basement for me. No worries now with a dual tank set up.  :) IMG_1465.JPG
