Wood Carving Film

Hello Milwaukee Makers,

My name is Martin, and I am currently a film student at UWM. I am beginning work on a short film about a woodcarver who lives by himself in a secluded country home, and is visited by the spirit of the master woodcarver who taught him his trade. The film will be shot on 16mm film stock, and is not a horror film, but rather a film about the bond between a good teacher and their apprentice, and a meditation on the communion with nature one can experience when working with natural materials.

This project has yet to be fully developed, but I do know that I want my main character to be an actual woodcarver, so I am reaching out to the Makerspace today to see if any woodcarvers would be interested in acting in this project! I am not a wood worker myself, so I would like to work with a carver who is willing to carve on camera, share ideas of what would look good on film, and help this idea become the best version of itself.

There is no dialogue in this film, and you do not have to be a professional actor. I am interested in working with an adult of any age or gender or anything, so please do not hesitate to reach out! The project will be only 4-5 minutes in length, and will require of your time a 1 hour preliminary meeting and a 4-5 hour film shoot.
