Hey gang-

Anyone know where I can source some coin cell holders?

Preferably the dual cell ones?..

Sci surplus perhaps?  (havent checked there yet)

alternately.. does anyone know of a battery holder, that actually has a regulated output?  (vReg built in perhaps?)

(cheap)  :)

I'm looking for a way to provide some shadow boxes with light (leds)..

but since these are not for me.. I'm looking for something easy that a 'civilian' can change the battery on.

regular accent leds so roughly 3.3v/20mA or so...

I'd hate to have to wire up a voltage regulator for each one...(was looking at some 3.3v coin cells.. to avoid any voltage regulation. and still easy for the end user to swap out the batteries when dead.)

Appreciate all suggestions!

thanks!

Most people connect a single lithium coin cell directly to the LED.  The internal resistance of the battery is enough to limit the current.

You can buy the coin cell holder from Digikey, they are based in Minneaoplis and ship the same day as long as your order is in by 5 or 6.  USPS gets it to Milwaukee in 1-2 days.

How long do you expect the light to last?    Coin cells are designed for draws of less than 1ma so at 20ma LED the cell will be dead in a few hours.
