3. NUMBER PERMITTED. No person
may keep, harbor, shelter or possess at any
time more than 3 dogs or domesticated cats or
any combination thereof which are over the age
of 5 months unless the person holds a valid
animal fancier permit, kennel permit, pet shop
permit or grooming establishment permit.

It seems that other animals are not included in this limit - ie it
doesn't say anything about limiting the numbers of "rabbits".

78-5. Keeping of Animals Within City.
1. PERMITTED ANIMALS. No animal
that is not a domesticated animal may be kept
or brought into the city except as provided in
ss. 78-20 and 78-23 or as otherwise authorized
by the commissioner.
2. CERTAIN ANIMALS PROHIBITED.
a. Except as otherwise provided in
this chapter, no person shall keep within the
city, either temporarily or permanently, any live
fowl, cows, cattle, horses, sheep, swine, goats,
chickens, ducks, turkeys, geese or any other
domesticated livestock, provided, however, that
such animals or fowl may be kept at places
approved by the commissioner for slaughtering,
educational purposes, research purposes and
for circuses or similar recreational events. Upon
approval by the commissioner, horses used for
livery service may be kept within the city. No
rabbits or guinea pigs shall be kept within any
portion of any multiple dwelling.

Hi All,

My part of the assignment from the meeting is to contact MADACC. I was
wondering if we had come up with a solid Mission Statement that I can
put in my email? I would like my email to be professional, well
thought out, and have the kind of tone we want to present.

I read through the director's bio and it seems she has some history in
Chicago with Animal Control (which allows chickens) so I am hoping she
had a positive experience there. I am checking with the Chicago
Chicken Groups for any input too.

Please let me know if there is a new / revised mission statement or if
I should use the one from the Facebook page.

Thanks,

Jodi

I think it is a really valuable process for a group to come up with a collective mission and vision statement.  Here is one link that describes the mission statement process.

I think we could all brainstorm and discuss the groups values, etc. and come up with something that works.  If we want to just keep it simple, that's okay also.  Just tossing the idea out there.

Nice work!  ~g

At this point the website and consequently the mission statement
should be up on Sunday. IE it's not done yet. :oP This weekend should
be pretty nuts for me--but we should definitely have the basis for a
good movement by next week. Any suggestions welcome.
