to Cream City Hens
I know that there has been some interest in creating a universal,
easily printable flyer that individual members can post at local
retailers, groceries, etc, so we're looking for input on information
to be posted on the flyers. What do you think? I have a few ideas,
but I want to hear what other people think would stand out, as well.

Here are two basic, quick write-ups that I've come up with, but I'm
hoping others have something to say (as this would need a lot of work
before going up anywhere):

"CREAM CITY HENS
Communities across the nation are slowly turning toward their own
backyards for vegetables, fruits, honey, and home-laid eggs. It’s
called urban sustainability and it takes us back to our roots and back
to the earth.
Here in Milwaukee we’re allowed to have vegetable gardens, grow fruit
trees, and keep bees—but urban hens aren’t allowed. We think that
should change. If you do, too, then look us up on facebook, follow us
on twitter, or join our google group to support an ordinance change to
allow a four-hen microflock in each backyard. Come get
involved and make a difference! We're Cream City Hens, and we want
YOU!"

"CREAM CITY HENS
Help make backyard hens legal in Milwaukee. Go to:
http://groups.google.com/groups/milwaukeehens
to learn more, or to join a movement that’s sweeping the nation from
New York City to Seattle, from Houston to our very own Madison,
Wisconsin!

• Help Milwaukee move a little closer to urban sustainability
• Make a move towards local food consumption and healthy living
• Add a pet hen to your family and fresh eggs to your table"

I also think we need to work up a logo for all of our pages/groups and
for the top of the flyers, too, so anything we post anywhere is
instantly recognizable, and so we have a united, professional looking
front. I have someone who is willing to put together the logo, but
first we need some ideas about what it should be! (He suggested a hen
squatting down with a look of concentration on it's face, with an egg
popping out of it's behind. :oP) I think that could work if we do it
right, but I'm not sure everyone has our sense of humor, so...input,
please! Is there a specific Milwaukee landmark we should use? Is
there a specific way the hen should look? Should it be a line drawing
(this is a lot easier to have printed) or something more complicated?
I don't want to get too close to Mad City Chickens' logo, but that's
what keeps popping into my head. Should we work in the lake? The
Calatrava Wing (since chickens and the Calatrava Wing both
have...well...wings?)? What is universally and wholly Milwaukee?
