Milwaukee Ultimate Players,
Announcing the 2011 Milwaukee Ultimate Club Spring Leagues!
Here is the schedule and locations for the leagues:
Per our usual Spring League practice, we will be allowing sign up in the forms of: Individual, Partner, Buddy Group (2 per gender), or Team.
Registration will begin on March 9th, 2011.
Registration will close on March 28th, 2011.
Please take note that in the past our spots for full teams has filled up very quickly. If you think you want to register a team you may want to do so sooner rather than later to ensure you get a spot. A teams spot is reserved when they have a total of 12 players with a minimum of 5 per gender. Until this number is reached, the team will be subject to disbanding at the discretion of the directors in order to accommodate completed teams. It is essential that we enforce this rule because of issues that we have had in the past.
Notices:
1. We are doing something different with our Recreational Leagues this season. We have decided to split the Rec league into partially our standard Recreational league and a true Beginner League. The beginner league is going to be there for people who are new to the game and looking to learn the ropes, in our ranking system it would be for players who rank their. However we do need a few experienced players to help teach the new people so don't be shy about signing up if you consider yourself more than a beginner and you want help new people learn. If you are looking to be one of these "teacher" type players, please contact us so that we can be on the same page at
lea...@milwaukeeultimateclub.com.
Right now we do not know what the breakdown will be in terms of teams for this night. It will be either 6 Rec and 6 Beginner or 8 Rec and 4 Beginner. This will be determined based on interest. So if you are registering for a Thursday night league, you will be able to specify if you would like to be in Recreational or Beginner, so please do so.
2. This year we will be running an extra event for our Mixed teams. Following the conclusion of the season we will be running the third rendition of our event: The Summer Scramble. This year the tournament will be on the weekend of June 4th and 5th, the weekend after our leagues come to an end. While this event will not be a part of the regular season or seasons playoffs, we want to encourage our Mixed teams from both the Recreational and Competitive leagues to attend. On Saturday there will be a standard, 1 day event for any team that wishes to participate. On Sunday we will run a Hat-themed tournament where players will register individually and be assigned a random team for play throughout the day.
There will be future announcements concerning Summer Scramble and registration will open later, but as soon as Spring league starts up teams should discuss if they are interested in competing in this event!
We are looking forward to playing outside again and we hope you all are too!
Sincerely,
Your leaders of the Milwaukee Ultimate Club
