Announcing: 2012 Milwaukee Ultimate Club Summer Leagues

To all Milwaukee Area Ultimate players and aspiring Ultimate players,

It's my pleasure to announce the 2012 Milwaukee Ultimate Summer Leagues. We are offering 4 different levels of play this year, similar to what we did last year. Leagues cost $40 per person per league, which goes to cover your league fee and also gets you a jersey! Complete information about registration and the types of leagues available is found at the bottom of this email and on our website at www.milwaukeeultimate.com

Summer Leagues Offered:

Monday - Open

Monday - Mixed C (Beginner)

Tuesday - Mixed A

Wednesday - Mixed B

Articles of note:

Our Beginner league is returning after a successful first season last year, with room for up to 8 teams! So if you have some friends that you want to introduce to the game of Ultimate, this is your chance. Also, we have attained some extra field space for our Wednesday night slot. So because of the amazing demand for our Mixed B division, we will be moving it to Wednesday and the League can now accommodate 16 Mixed B teams. Make sure to read the registration guidelines though, so that your team does not get left out.

You may not be aware, but the Milwaukee Ultimate Club is a  501(c)(3) non-profit organization. And as such, we are always looking for volunteers. So if you feel the urge to volunteer some time to your local Ultimate club we would love to have your help. We need people interested in coordinating leagues, setting up and taking down fields, assisting at our local tournaments, instructing at our clinics and more! Milwaukee Ultimate Club Summer League 2012

 

Registration for Mixed B and Mixed C

• Team Sign up opens May 4th  and closes May 14th
• Players on teams can pay up until May 18th.  If a team has less than 12 players paid on the 18th, the league reserves the right to split the team.
• Individual, Pair, and Group opens on May 19th and closes on May 31st

Registration for Mixed A and Open

• Individual and Pair signup opens on May 4th and closes on May 31st

Open League (4-6 team league)

Monday nights @ Mount Mary College (6/11/12 - 8/13/12), 6:30 PM start times

League Description: This league is open to all; however teams will not be required to match the gender ratio of the opposing team.  To those unfamiliar with the Ultimate lingo, Open typically refers to a men’s league but it is completely acceptable and encouraged for women to participate.

 

Registration guidelines: Participants may register in any of the following ways: Individual or Pair. Pairs can be two people of either gender. This is a draft league.

 

Mixed C - Beginner/Instructional League (6-8 team league)

Monday nights @ Mount Mary College (6/11/12 - 8/13/12), 6:30 PM start times

League Description: This is a league is designed to introduce new players to the game.  The teams will be mostly new players, with each team having a few experienced coaches. We need both new players and experienced ones! The first week of this league will be an Ultimate skills clinic, followed by 3 weeks of short clinics and shortened games. The remainder of the league will be full games. This league has a ringer rule in that no team can have more than 3 players with a skill rating of 5 or more.

 

Registration guidelines: Participants may register in any of the following ways: Individual, Pair, Group, or Team. Pairs can be two people of either gender. Groups can be up to 6 people but must have at least as many women as men (i.e. 2 men + 2 women, 3 men + 3 women, or 2 men + 3 women). Teams must have a total of 12 people and a minimum of 5 women to be considered official.

 

Mixed A (8-12 team league)

Tuesday nights @ Mount Mary College (6/12/12 - 8/14/12), 6:30 PM start times

League Description: Many players in this league will have many years of Ultimate playing experience or have played together on a team for several years with consistent success.  Most players should understand the basic strategies of the game, and can consistently throw successful passes.

 

Registration guidelines: Participants may register in any of the following ways: Individual or Pair. Pairs can be two people of either gender.  This is a draft league.

 

Mixed B (16 team league)

Wednesday nights @ Mount Mary College & Hart Park (6/13/12 - 8/15/12), 6:30 PM start times

League Description: The intent of this league is to create a relaxed and fun environment.  Teams should be a mix of experienced and inexperience players.  This league has a ringer rule in that no team can have more than 5 players with a skill rating of 5 or more. The League Director reserves the right to adjust player skill rankings if the self rankings are deemed inappropriate for that player.

 

Registration guidelines: Participants may register in any of the following ways: Individual, Pair, Group, or Team. Pairs can be two people of either gender. Groups can be up to 6 people but must have equal amounts of each gender (i.e. 2 men + 2 women, 3 men + 3 women, or 2 men + 3 women). Teams must have a total of 12 people and a minimum of 5 women to be considered official.

 

Note for Mixed B League – There will be no games on July 4^th and each team will have a bye round in the first 8 weeks of play
