Hey Guys,
We've got an Electric Car Club Meeting marked down on the calendar for tomorrow at the Milwaukee Makerspace. Since we are finally pretty much finished moving in at the Makerspace, it looks like the various clubs and groups will start picking up again.
I won't be available tomorrow, but wanted to check in and see what projects people are working on.
I know that Guy has his car down there, along with the electric motor and transmission on it. I suspect that he'll be there working on it.
I also spoke with Jeff the other day about his project. He has a big AC drive at the Makerspace and is looking for a motor to go with it to start work on a BWM conversion. If you are interested in a really well-done BMW conversion, check out Damien Maguire's YouTube channel. He did one car earlier, and he's working on another one now.

I've been working on a Mitsubishi i-Miev electric car that was pulled out of Hurricane Sandy. It's interesting taking apart this flood-damaged vehicle to see how it works and what parts are usable off it. It's rear-wheel drive, with a 66HP permanent magnet synchronous AC motor mounted to a single-speed gear reduction. The battery pack was shot, but I've started testing individual cells, and have had fairly good success with the first cell I've been testing. It appears to have 80% capacity. I hope that I can revive enough of these cells to use for upgrading the Geo to lithium, or upgrading my electric motorcycle. At some point, I want to figure out how to test the motor on it as well.
Anyone else planning on being at the space working on an EV project?
The Milwaukee Makerspace had a booth at the Sustainability Summit this week, including showing off my electric motorcycle, so it's possible we may have a random person or two just show up from finding out about us at the event.
Please share what you are working on and if you will be at the space, so we can all help each other out!
Thanks,
-Ben Nelson
