Ihave used vehicle tracking to check the vertical clearance. I have changed the scale of the long section to an exaggerated scale. How do I scale the vehicle body path to match the new exaggerated scale?

Hi @Ike-Oduro, yes, we know it is a must to have a no vertically exaggerated profile view to do the analysis of vertical clearance. I haven't found an option to exaggerate the swept path yet, but it makes sense since we cannot run the analysis on an exaggerated profile view.

GPS fleet tracking software is one of the more popular types of tracking systems available to businesses and consumers today. Put simply, a GPS tracker is a device that uses the Global Positioning System to determine and track the location of its carrier (typically a vehicle or person). This enables location data to be collected and displayed on a map which can then be used to locate something. Fleet tracking software can help fleet managers gain real-time visibility into their operations and driver behavior, while increasing driver satisfaction, decreasing fuel consumption, and idling through predictive analytics and accurate reporting. Samsara's electronic logging device is an FMCSA-registered ELD that connects directly to a vehicle's engine through the OBD port. Live data is transmitted to the ELD so there is always an accurate log of when the engine is on and what speed the vehicle is traveling, as well as diagnostic information, such as engine fault codes, and safety information, such as instances of harsh braking or acceleration. When broad line food distributor Cash-Wa Distributing was looking for a telematics solution, they considered eight different providers before ultimately selecting Samsara. A driving factor in their decision? The fact that Samsara could accomplish what would have otherwise required multiple vendors. Read more.

Companies who want to limit tracking during driver personal time can do so with the Samsara Privacy Button. The Privacy Button is an easy-to-use accessory that allows drivers to turn location and GPS tracking on and off when conducting personal activities. When pushed, the button immediately turns off all location tracking from the vehicle.

While change management can be challenging for some when it comes to tracking, Samsara has carefully considered data protection in order to help ensure personal data is processed in accordance with its legal requirements. Data is therefore processed in a transparent way and is retained only as is necessary, with appropriate safeguards in place to secure and protect it. Read more.

The 3G sunset would mean a loss of connection to GPS receivers, impeding access to driving data via your telematics devices. Fleets with vehicle tracking devices using a 3G network will need to upgrade their devices to 4G in order to maintain business continuity. What does this mean for fleets with 3G telematics hardware?

Evaluate your options closely, and determine if the time and costs involved in migrating to 4G hardware with your current provider will yield the best outcome for your business. The 3G sunset could be an opportunity to switch providers and improve your entire fleet tracking technology. Many 4G providers like Samsara, have attractive offers for companies upgrading their 3G telematics technology and can offer contract buy-outs for those who are eligible.

Fleets are always looking for ways to save money, and investing in technology can seem counterintuitive. However, investing in the right technology can actually save money in the long run. In fact, there are a lot of operational levers that a telematics solution can pull to deliver substantial ROI to an organization.

Samsara goes far beyond GPS tracking software and consolidates all your telematics and safety tools into one unified Connected Operation Platform so you can seamlessly switch between compliance, safety Dash Cams, vehicle maintenance, dispatch, across your vehicles, assets, equipment, and sites.

Advanced fuel and vehicle diagnostics to surface opportunities to improve the bottom line. Automate preventative vehicle maintenance, reduce downtime, and identify fuel consumption, idling, and reduce overall fuel costs.

Implementing a new technology solution, like a fleet management platform, can be a big undertaking. For example, we need to change the oil in vehicles every month. So, I need to set up a board that notifies a staff member every month to change the oil in vehicles. I would also like the staff member to be able to edit the status to complete once he completes the task. That way, if the task is still pending, he can continue to be notified. Also, once the task is complete, is there any way to create an additional item with a new due date, 30 days after the completion date?

I am wondering what automation I would use, or if anyone has any suggestions on how best to compile such a board? I suspect I will need to create different boards for different maintenance tasks that need to be completed in different amounts of time. For example, a board for oil changes every month, and a different board for brake checks every 3 months.

Trackers come in an array of shapes, sizes, and prices, with many requiring a monthly subscription for their services. Our expert review team has tested the best GPS trackers for cars to narrow down the top choices on the market.

There are many useful functions of having a GPS tracker either in your car or in an owned car. That said, GPS trackers can be easily abused, so carefully consider how you plan to use this product before purchasing. We do not condone using these devices to track people without their consent and in most states, installing a GPS tracker this way is illegal.

We named car GPS trackers from Bouncie, LandAirSea, and BrickHouse as our top three picks for car GPS trackers. Other models that made our list include offerings from Tracki, Vyncs, and Spytec, which are more specialized options.

The car GPS trackers in this article went through two rounds of reviews. We started by searching retailers like Amazon, RealTruck, and Advance Auto Parts for top products, looking at factors such as warranties, updates, customer ratings, and prices.

Because of its ease of use and affordability, the Bouncie GPS Car Tracker is our pick for Best Overall car GPS tracker. Downloading the app, signing up, and plugging in the device takes only a few minutes and instantly gives you access to real-time tracking.

Bouncie uses 4G LTE to transmit driving data, so a subscription is required. Most GPS tracker subscriptions are anywhere between $20 and $25 per month, while Bouncie only costs around $9 and even offers more features than competitors. Below are the pros and cons of the Bouncie GPS Car Tracker:

We recommend the Bouncie Car GPS Tracker for anyone who wants an affordable, accurate means of tracking themselves or their loved ones on the road. Its ease of use makes it perfect for anyone unfamiliar with GPS devices.

The total cost of the Bouncie, including a year-long subscription, is roughly $175. This gives you access to resources including location tracking, reports on car health, and insights to improve your driving. Many competitors charge extra for features like these, making Bouncie a great value.

The device latches onto metal surfaces of your car with its built-in super strength magnet. Its battery normally lasts between one to two weeks when providing updates, but can survive up to six months when in low-power mode. Below are the pros and cons of the LandAirSea 54 GPS Tracker:

At the lowest monthly subscription rate of $19.95, the LandAirSea 54 GPS Tracker will run for about $270 per year. This includes a free one-year warranty as long as you are enrolled in a subscription. Users who prepay for an annual subscription can get a rate as low as $9.95 per month.

While this tracker will work to monitor your personal vehicle, the subscription plan may be a little costly for just this purpose. If you want to monitor a commercial vehicle or a fleet of vehicles, the data, geofencing options, and ability to manage multiple trackers at once may be very helpful. Below are the pros and cons of the BrickHouse Security Spark Nano 7:

BrickHouse offers three tiers of service: basic, plus, and premium. Depending on the tier, location updates are provided every five seconds (premium), thirty seconds (plus), or sixty seconds (basic). According to some customers, the tracking information at the lower tiers is less precise.

We tested these devices at the highest level of service, which was accurate to within several feet. However, the tracking works best when the GPS tracker is moving. While parked, the live tracking software would sometimes misplace the tracker by a couple hundred feet.
