The "regular" methods provided with XP (phone and online) don't work anymore. The phone number is not valid for activation anymore (I tried the German one) and the online activation does not work either (in a quick test within a DMZ other protocols like ICMP or HTTP worked fine when I accessed an internet server).
This link just allows you to manually activate the the installation. So you select activate via phone option, then your XP box activation screen will give you a set of numbers. You enter these numbers into the site and the site gives you the response numbers to enter into the XP installation that you are needing to activate. Then you click on "next" and the activation completes.
I just successfully activated an old copy of Windows XP I had installed using the toll free U.S. phone number listed in the activation dialog (888-571-2048), so it's possible the issue was with the German number and not phone activations in general.
As you may have seen, Windows Azure Mobile Services makes it super easy to add a cloud backend to your mobile apps. Mobile Services also supports authentication with OAuth providers like Facebook, Microsoft, and Twitter. I have had people ask me if it is possible to use Mobile Services with the Facebook SDK for .NET (formally named the Facebook C# SDK). In short, yes.
Automated device enrollment for iOS/iPadOS and for Mac devices:Enroll new or wiped devices purchased from Apple Business Manager or Apple School Manager with automated device enrollment. This automated enrollment method for corporate-owned devices applies your organization's settings from Apple Business Manager and Apple School Manager, supports supervision mode, and enrolls devices without you needing to touch them. When people turn on their devices, Apple Setup Assistant guides them through setup and enrollment.
If you don't see a phone option, it's possible that your organization doesn't allow you to use this option for verification. In this case, you'll need to choose another method or contact your organization's help desk for more assistance.
Your security info is updated and you can use phone calls to verify your identity when using two-step verification or password reset. If you want to make phone calls your default method, see the Change your default security info method section of this article.
Select Yes from the confirmation box to delete the Phone number. After your phone number is deleted, it's removed from your security info and it disappears from the Security info page. If Phone is your default method, the default will change to another available method.
If you want phone calls to be the default method used when you sign-in to your work or school account using two-factor verification or for password reset requests, you can set it from the Security info page.
This is a way to install a different country variant firmware (or any other official firmware for that matter) to your Windows Phone using the Windows Phone Recovery Tools than the phone says it should install.
Note: This is not an officially supported method of recovering to a different country variant so you do this at your own risk. Don't blame me or Microsoft if you brick your phone using this method :)
After doing some experiments with my Nokia Lumia 920 I needed to reflash my phone to it's pristine factory state. So I grabbed the Windows Phone Recovery Tools and restored my phone using them, which was an easy process and worked like a charm, or so I thought.
Now comes the fun part. In Fiddler, go to Rules->Automatic Breakpoints and select Before Requests. This tells Fiddler to stop before sending requests, allowing us to manipulate the HTTPS requests sent by the Recovery Tools. Go to the Recovery Tools and select your phone. The Recovery Tools should start sending some requests and once you see a request looking like this, select the variant text and change it to whatever variant you want the tools to download and flash (in my case i changed the product code 059Q9D7 to 059R645) and then click Run to Completion.
Keep clicking Run to Completion on the subsequent requests until the Recovery Tools respond with the version that it found. Then after clicking the Reinstall Software button you'll need to manipulate the same request as you did in the beginning once more to start the actual download and flashing of the variant.
But by and large I was impressed by A) how incredibly easy it was to install Windows 10 via Parallels, and B) how well it performed. In my experience Windows 10 was fairly stable, and most apps just worked. Even x64-based apps, which previously required the user to jump through several hoops to get emulation working on the Parallels Technical Preview, work right out of the box with the latest Windows 10 for ARM Insider build.
You can choose whether you wish to receive promotional communications from Microsoft by email, SMS, physical mail, and telephone. If you receive promotional email or SMS messages from us and would like to opt out, you can do so by following the directions in that message. If you do not have a personal Microsoft account, you can manage your Microsoft email contact preferences by using this web form. These choices do not apply to mandatory service communications that are part of certain Microsoft products, programs, activities, or to surveys or other informational communications that have their own unsubscribe method.
When you activate Windows, a specific product key is associated with the device on which your software is installed. The product key and data about the software and your device is sent to Microsoft to help validate your license to the software. This data may be sent again if there is a need to re-activate or validate your license. On phones running Windows, device and network identifiers, as well as device location at the time of the first power-up of the device, are also sent to Microsoft for the purpose of warranty registration, stock replenishment, and fraud prevention.

Apps mirroring. On supported devices, Phone Link allows you to use your Android apps that are installed on your Android phone on your Windows device. For example, you can launch a music app in your Windows session and listen to audio from that app on your PC speakers. Microsoft collects a list of your installed Android apps and recent activity to provide the service and show you your most recently used apps. Microsoft does not store what apps you have installed or any of the information displayed by the app in your experience with it.
Some Microsoft browser information saved on your device will be synced across other devices when you sign in with your Microsoft account. For instance, in Internet Explorer, this information includes your browsing history and favorites; and in Microsoft Edge, it includes your favorites, reading lists, autofill form entries (such as your name, address, and phone number), and may include data for extensions that you have installed. As an example, if you sync your Microsoft Edge reading list across devices, copies of the content you choose to save to your reading list will be sent to each synced device for later viewing. You can disable syncing in Internet Explorer by going to Start > Settings > Accounts > Sync your settings. (For more information, see the Sync settings section of this privacy statement.) You can also disable syncing of Microsoft Edge browser information by turning off the sync option in Microsoft Edge Settings.
I have a bunch of files that I need to be able to transport and install quickly. My current method for doing so is moving a flash drive with a readme file of where stuff goes whenever I need to move stuff, which is rather inelegant and cumbersome.
Home Assistant offers four different installation methods. We recommendusing Home Assistant Operating System, but other methods are available forexperienced users for their specific needs, for example, running HomeAssistant in a virtualized environment (e.g. Proxmox), or on top of anexisting operating system (e.g. Windows, macOS, Linux):
Note that while these installation methods may provide somefeatures for advanced users, they may also have some major limitations. For example, add-ons and other important Home Assistant features may not be available. Compareinstallation methods here.
While Windows Phone 7 users were required to attach their phones to a PC to install updates,[100] starting with Windows Phone 8, all updates are done via over-the-air downloads.[101] Since Windows Phone 8, Microsoft has also begun releasing minor updates that add features to a current OS release throughout the year.[102] These updates were first labeled "General Distribution releases" (or GDRs), but were later rebranded simply as "Updates".
