i use sigil to create ebooks - works fine except i cannot seem to make pageedit to work
in preferences i have to fill in the path to pageedit - wich i find under
/usr/share/applications/pageedit.desktop

Have noticed this as well. Though if you have an active Sigil while Warpathing it does seem to allow it to generate additional sigils. So a somewhat clunky workaround is manually cast one before starting to spin and try and keep 'em going from there.
Maybe the workaround will help debugging purposes.

resists are all overcapped by 40% or more, except aether which is only overcapped by 15%, which is probably why anasteria almost killed me in the crucible. 63% phys resist, 3k armour, 3k DA and almost 20k health makes us nice and tanky. with all the leech we get from sigil, our health bar never really moves except against ravager and scary crucible comps that feature anasteria.

i think i was late 70s when i beat elite loghorrean. i skipped acts 5-6 here, as well as the korvan stuff, and jumped right into ultimate. act 5 has a ton of experience from quests though, so maybe i should have done that?

Hi, recently I'm working on a research and need pictures to test my work. I found your generator fitted well to my request. But when it comes to the copyright issues, I'm not completely sure if I can use the them on my research and publish the thesis. Could you give me a definite answer?

I don't mean to be "that guy", but there is no such thing as "necessary" within chaos magick. One of its core principles is the avoidance of dogma, and another is that reality is totally subjective based on belief. So sure, you can believe you HAVE to encircle the intended meaning or whatever, but that's not taught as a rule anywhere within chaos magick whatsoever.

I'm afraid I'm not familiar enough with magic sigils (and alchemy, for that matter) to figure out what needs to be adjusted :). Could you give examples of sigils that are too scientific and sigils that are mystical enough?

While I love this for random sigil generations. I would love to see this updated to be used with proper sigil generation. something that allows you to put the intent in then shows the breakdown and then display choices of different sigils that could be made with the intent. this would help many neopagans and Wiccans who are new to sigiles as well as others. If you dont know how sigils are made in the witchy world i'm happy to send you a basic guide.

There are a few methods of sigil creation but most of them have what's called an intent. Intent is in very simple words the desire that lead you to create a sigil. A few notable methods are using a pattern such as a magic square or witch circle to create a path, combining symbols (what this gen does) and chaos magic where you would use a fountain pen or similar writting device where the resulting symbol isn't really methodic and the "style" matters as it's a result of your intent.

The way i would implement this into a program is probably adding an option to force exclusion/inclusion from symbols and grouping symbols into themes and motiffs that can overlap, such as nature, change, etc. that way you choose one or more themes and the sigil is composed from symbols in that category

Really feel the style of Sigils from The Lesser Key of Solomon and some other old alchemical books.
Pretty great for a quick grag of a symbol, or as i do, take some, and re-edit them on photoshop with my digital tablet, to give a more "Handwritten" feel.

That's what people were asking for and it makes sense - it's very easy to add solid background if you have a transparent image, but much harder to remove it. I could add a solid background as an option, but it seems to be an overkill for such small application.

Permanent sigils are made to last and are meant to be active for an extended period of time. Sigils like these could be made as a piece of art, or you could write a sigil on a piece of paper to be hidden in or around your home.

We also spent a good amount of time with both Anni Albers and Agnes Martin. Both of these painters had an incredible mastery of the grid as a means of creating engaging visual work. These paintings all have a wonderful tension between an underlying system and their specific expression.

We went through so many names for these things. Crest, symbol, seal, tag, pictograph, stamp, emblem, signet, icon, glyph, holomark, visage, radigy, pattern, the list goes on for an incredibly (embarrassingly) long time. We argued about this, we went back and forth about it.

Just like the previous example, the main idea was that we could take a set of geometric primitives, combine them, then alter their appearance along a set of parameters, like color, rotation, and size.

Eventually, we realized: tiles! With tile designs there are no overlaps, which in early experiments immediately started to take on the consistent, legible appearance we were after. Each element is discrete and clearly visible. Tile designs were also easier to create and control from an implementation standpoint.

At first, we thought about using a 4 x 4 tile grid, as shown here. These designs were tricky to implement because of the detailed lines and arcs spanning across individual tiles. In order to generate a result that matched these mockups, a program would have to generate a data model that knew about which tiles touched which other tiles.

We felt this was too complicated and had an unknown performance profile. Plus, they proposed a deterministic color scheme and we felt strongly that color is personal, not to mention hard to parameterize. In the end we thought it better to create something that had the potential for user customization.

We took a look at our hand drawn mockups and drew each individual visual building block of the tiles separately. Then we loaded the SVG elements into a script that programmatically combined them to create trillions of layered symbols. This way, we were able to easily select candidate phoneme symbols that worked visually.

I am unable to create sigils in occultist shop, because i did not finish the quest for sigils - this quest Is missing on my character. I had this quest with opened and prepared nightmare dungeon, but i had to log out from game. When i came back, i did not have this quest in my quest log nor open nightmare dungeon. I tried to open And finish another one, but i did not help And my character Is Now bugged. How can i fix it?

Below is the finished LOVE sigil plotted on the Venus grid. Notice how the first number is circled, to designate where the sigil begins, and the last one is marked with a perpendicular line. Mirage is effectively required to use a staff on both bars, with Sigil or Energy in each PLUS a trait just to provide 100% uptime of alacrity. Depending on boon duration, you'll also need utility and healing slot skills. Compared to every other boon spec in the game, this is overly taxing and incredibly limiting to the build. Providing quickness/alacrity should have trade-offs, but this feels more like a build jail. Even if you can stomach all that, alac mirage still underperforms compared to other boondps due to inconsistency in clone uptime and slow ramp up on dps.

Alternatively, ambush generation and alacrity duration could be targeted to free up the option to use one other weapon in addition to staff. Mirage has more of its power budget tied up in dodges than any other spec, yet has no endurance generation through traits. It therefore requires skills and equipment just to reach the minimum number of ambushes to maintain alacrity. Sigil of Energy is the major offender here, providing 2 dodges every 20s, but requiring weapon swapping on CD.

current alac mirage in pve group content might not be affected.
a change to a sigil affects anyone using it anywhere in PvE and where this one is used a lot more: WvW.

while staff is still anywhere in that build the ramp up will still be slow anyway so it will continue to underperform, dont need to nerf a very commonly used sigil for that.

I have to agree - it feels like the sort of nerf (at least here for a trade-off, unlike my coming example) that happened to the relic of Karakosa, being nerfed because it was overperforming on... revenant's mace. A single case impacted everyone.

Without giving it much thought, the first thing that comes to mind for me consists in as simple a solution as making Mirage mantle give alacrity on any ambush, however with the loss of its few interesting effets there could simply be a complete rework of Mirrored axes. Let's be real: without the trait, the weapon doesn't shine, meaning it's great on mirage and barely average on all other (e-)specs without mentioning its ambush. The trait has already seen its CD reduction made baseline; the remaining effect could also be made as such, and maybe we could have a nice surprise on chrono thanks to it?
