1/6 by Alan Jenkins and One Six Comics

Kickstarter Campaign ending Feb 02, 2026

Have ever found yourself wondering, "What if the traitors on January 6th, 2021 had been successful?" Brotha Alan and his crew have been sharing their vision of that scenario in 1/6: the Graphic Novel. From their Kickstarter:

"At long last, Issue #4 of 1/6: The Graphic Novel is almost here!  With your help, Issues #1, #2, and #3 have made news, galvanized everyday people around the country, and (okay, we'll say it) predicted the future –– from federal troops deployed to our cities to persecution of political rivals and independent judges, to killer drones executing people without trial or evidence.  Somehow, we even predicted the reconstruction of the White House to look like a tacky Las Vegas casino.  (Even we thought that one was a stretch).

The good news is, help is on the way!  Issue #4, "And Still We Rise" is about the resistance.  Our heroes lead a Democracy movement to resist the authoritarian Regime while debating the more perfect union that might replace it.  Can they rise above their differences to prevail against violent repression, inner demons and, at times, each other?  Help America find out!

This is the final Issue of the series (😭)!  We need your help one final time to get Issue #4 into the hands of readers.  As always, with support from you, we'll be making copies available to libraries, schools, and universities.  We also plan special outreach to veterans and military families.  And, as in past issues, we'll be linking this issue to our free Action and Teaching Guides, created with Western States Center and San Diego State University, respectively.  These important free tools help to ensure that 1/6 is not just an entertaining, sometimes funny, often terrifying pop culture phenomenon, but also a driver of real change when we need it most."

If you're down, send Brotha Alan some coin at:

The Picnic has been carrying 1/6 since jump, and we think y'all'll dig it.

Fenway Writes Comics

Jan 31, 2026, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Fenway Community Center, 1282 Boylston St #123, Boston, MA 02215, USA

Fenway Writes Comics is a five week comics and graphic novel writing course for adults, ages 18 to 100. Cartoonist and art educator Kurt Ankeny (In Pieces, Pleading with Stars) will lead students through the process of writing for a graphic medium. Comics are a very accessible medium for readers, and especially good at making stories from daily life compelling. Is there a family anecdote that you want to preserve? Is there a person in your neighborhood that gives it a special spark that you want people to know about? We’ll show you how to shape your story for panel-to-panel storytelling. During the 5-week course we will aim to complete a rough draft of an 8-24 page comics script.

All experience levels are welcome!

Session Two: February 7, 10am - 12pm
Session Three: February 14, 10am - 12pm

About the Creators

Robert Mgrdich Apelian (he/him) is an Armenian American author-illustrator based in Everett, Massachusetts. He's an avid reader of seinen manga and is especially passionate about making the most of comics as a storytelling medium. A primary goal of his work is to celebrate the diversity and cultural excellence of the Middle East and to portray it as something other than tragic and war-torn.

Shaina Lu (she/her) is a queer Taiwanese American community artist exploring the intersection of art, education, and activism. She graduated from Wellesley College and Harvard Graduate School of Education, where she studied arts in education. When she’s not creating community art, she works with young artists and makers in Boston’s Chinatown. Most important, she drinks juice every day, and she is full of sugar.
