Hello All-

I am working on melody analysis and am having some trouble extracting the contents of the alphabetized subsets from infochimps.

For instance, I have downloaded M.gz and O.gz.  I expected these to contain a hierarchical set of sub-folders containing .h5 files, similar to those in the file "millionsongsubset_full.tar.gz."
But M.gz and O.gz unzip into single files "M" and "O", only.  Is this the expected contents of those files?    "millionsongsubset_full.tar.gz" unzips into a lovely set of directories of .h5 files, while M.gz gives me a single 10GB file with no extension.

Thanks much for any suggestions,

P.S.  I am using Windows 7 and WinRar/WinZip for unzipping things.

Hi James,
just did a quick Infochimps test, downloading the 'M' file gives me a 'M.tar.gz' document, which is expected.
(I use Firefox on an Ubuntu machine).
So, not sure if your downloader transforms the filename, or if Windows tries to be over-smart, but the problem seems to be on your end.
What happens if you rename the file to 'M.tar.gz'?
Good luck!
Thierry
