SagacityHappens,

Thanks for your active participation on this forum.

My two cents as an app dev and having looked at the winners and probably another 10 of the submissions, my take on how you ranked vs. the top 5 would probably come down to:

1. Diagnostic Center Presentment -- the instructions specifically said to present results in a "map-like format" which all of the Top 5 did
2. Graphic Experience -- my opinion is that most of the top 5 had a more aesthetic user experience than Smarterpointment -- their buttons looked like iphone/android UX buttons, their screens used more of the space, their look-and-feel more closely resembled other successful apps
3. Beyond the Requirements -- most of the top 5 plan to deliver something more than just the assessment, whether it be real coaching, links to additional resources, discounts to screenings, or the ability to model "what if's" around the indicators.  Smarterpointment as described mostly stopped at the recco stage.
4. Business Credibility - 3 of the 5 Finalists are fully funded businesses (one already a business partner with MillionHearts) that won't rely on this program for ongoing viability or have demonstrable existing partnerships -- your Business Plan was a lot more "we could do this" and some of the finalists had more "we have done this".

Congratulations to the finalists,

Reflecting on the comments given before the finalists were announced regarding the poor management, I find it quite revealing of the judging process that 2 of the 5 finalists did not even show an app in an app challenge. Not only does it trivialize the efforts of teams that actually went through the design and development process and followed the evaluation criteria, but it questions the credibility of the contest. 8 of the top 11 evaluation criteria were based on the use of an app, but it appears that there were some loopholes. O well
