Well, after going CRAZY without fresh milk, we broke into our frozen stash.
I was a little leery of trying it - afraid it might taste "funky" or something - but OH MY GOODNESS the milk is AMAZING!

We skimmed it before freezing and (as always) shake it up really well before pouring a glass.  I'm so GLAD I froze at least 8 gallons of this liquid gold!

As good as it is after freezing, I'm still looking forward to Spring!

Thanks again for all you do Meerman family!

Hi Kris!
Wow!  That is so good to hear that you had good results with the frozen milk!  I love that!  Next year it looks like we are going to havem ilk all year round, so you won't have to freeze it, but for this year, sounds like you will have a lot to drink.

See you around!  I do have some frozen if you would like it.  It's in a 3 gallon pail.

THanks!
Betsy

I froze milk too and just used the first one.  I was not able to freeze as much as I wanted because our freezer was too full of other stuff (fruits and veggies) I had put up for the winter and I had to use them up every time I wanted to add milk to my stash.  lol  For what it's worth, I decided to try *not* skimming the cream off because waiting until it separated and then getting it back out was too many steps for me in my busy life and we'd just end up drinking it.  So I started pouring it right into bags as it came home from the farm, not waiting or separating at all.  This works too!  I decided to do it after some milk froze in my fridge (when it somehow got turned to "coldest" hmmm) and was fine on thawing out.  You can see the little globs of cream but it tastes just fine and is not objectionable in any way.

I am so excited about year round milking for next year, Betsy!  Can't wait to hear the details!!

We are doing okay with frozen milk too. I put some of my thawed whole
milk in the blender to stir in the cream clots which worked pretty
well. Otherwise, I definitely would skim before freezing in the
future.
Has anyone tried yogurt with frozen milk? I'm not sure if it would be
successful.

I am curious about the new milking year round--what would have to
change?

Hello,
We will have more information about the year round milking in the next couple of weeks.  We haven't been completely certain that we are going year round, so that is why we haven't emailed yet.  Keeping watching your email.

Spring is not too far off!!  We are getting excited for those baby calves to be born!
