Yesterday I had a call(Infact several calls over a few days) from a very insistant asian guy who purported to be from Micrsoft Product support group.
Who was warning me about a virus/fault they had detected on my machine.
They asked me to type "assoc" into the run command.  So I was able to verify it was a bonofide call.
The number he quoted is sent out with every email you send (I believe). So is available to anyone in reciept of one of your emails.

You should follow this link.

If you follow this guys instructions you will loose a lot of money!

I got similar calls from an Asian guy, after he told me the “bad news” I told him I used Linux desktop as an OS. He said sorry and hung up!

Sometime it’s better not to tell the truth.

I do a similar thing, I assume the calls are coming from abroad so try to keep them talking as long as possible.
Then ask where microsoft is on my mac ?
or how do I do that with Linux ?
They usually just hang up straight away, you are lucky to get an apology.
I can remember the first time I had such a call being quite worried but this is old hat now
If someone has a similar way of getting rid of PPI callers or double glazing/home improvement salesmen please let me know
Kind regards
Tony Cross
