Good afternoon,

I am very pleased to have used map.army. But not being able to convert MILX files to KML/KMS does pose quite the setback in creating a finished project that requires multiple resources. I've seen that there is an internal tool used to convert from MILX to KML/KMS on what seems a case by case basis. What is the process in order to so, or rather use products that support KML/KMZ outputs.

Thanks you.

Alex, thank you for your question.

https://www.map.army has the focus to demonstrate how our Military Symbology Services can be implemented into a web application. We deliberately have not added support of KML (KMZ) as an export format to this online demo application as there are some limitations within the KML file format.

However, we do internally have developed products that support KML/KMZ outputs. In addition, we do have a conversion tool for MILX to KML/KMZ. You can send us your MilX-Layers to m...@gs-soft.com and we will convert them for you into a KMZ format which can be opened in GoogleEarth or ArcGIS Earth.
Should you have MilX-Layers which you cannot sent to us for conversion we can provide you with a standalone version of MssDraw (windows application) which you can use to locally convert the files to KMZ.

Kind regards
Martin from the map.army team

Please be aware of the following limitation: If you are looking to open the layers generated in https://www.map.army in ATAK (after conversion to KMZ) we have to inform you the KMZ is not fully supported in ATAK.

Sir,
Similarly, I would like to convert to and from Geoviewer layers.  Milx and Army Maps are easier to use, but we are directed to present in Geoviewer.  Is there a conversion aailable?

Scott, thank you for your question on https://www.map.army.

We are currently developing on the support of SHP, GeoJson, GPX and KML. The loaded files can be converted into MilX files in a second step. We hope this new function will help you.

This new function will be available in the next version of the web application.
