Issue with the map not loading

The map seems to only be a white screen with no details, and I am wondering if I am the only one having this issue.

great to hear that you are using https://www.map.army and thank you for your question. We are not aware of any issue in this area.
However, the problem you are facing could be due to the map settings:

1. Are you using OpenTopoMap as the Map Type? If yes, please choose another map service.
2. Is the Brightness set to default [0]?

If 1. and 2. does not resolve the issue reload the page by pressing Ctrl+F5.


If this still does not resolve the issue please help us to reproduce the issue on our side by answering the following questions:

• On what device are you running the web application?
• How are you using the web application as a installed app (PWA) or in your web browser?
• If possible, send us the link to the share of the military map to m...@gs-soft.com

In my local group of the Norwegian Reservist Federation, we use MapArmy to play out WarGame scenarios, once a month.
We test out scenarioes, identify possible courses of action, and in some cases travel to location to reconnoiter feasability of these findings.

As a civilian volunteer organization, with primarily former military personell as memebers, and a limited budget, Map Army has prooven an excelent tool for playing out our scenarios.

We have however recently (month+) noticed a significant slowdown in the loading of map tiles. When moving and zooming a lot, there is a constant need for loading and reloading tiles of different detail level etc.

Some times it does not load at all, usually it takes about 10-20 seconds to load a single tile, and occasinally it loads immediately like it used to earlier.

Changing between Map Type can occasinally negate the problem for a short time, but it will come back within a few moves/zooms.

The change is noticed across all the platforms I use as a Game Master (my stationary computer, laptop, and tab), and on different networks.

Is there some issue with server load? I also do beleive the issue appeared after i did the recent update, but not 100% sure of this.

• Does this issue occur with the default ‘Map Settings’ and the ‘Performance & Quality Settings’ set to ‘Optimal Quality’?

Thanks for the rapid response!

We have done some adjustments to the settings, with the performance/Quality set to; Optimal Performance. We've been using the same settings for about 4 months.

Trying to change the to other performance settings does not help.

The problem persists even if no MilX project is loaded.  I've sent you a screen capture video from our offical e-mail account, showing my experince of the issue,. (Let me know if you do not receive it or can not open it)

Note that the problem seems to be less pronounced when using the OSM layer, while OpenTopoMap is our prefered Map Layer for Wargames.

Thank you again for reporting the issue you were facing with OpenTopoMap in www.map.army.

We have good news. It looks as the issue in the area of Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS) has been resolved by OpenTopoMap. Therefore, the maps are available again in the web application.
