Based on your description, it sounds like the issue isn't with the map itself but with the final print settings. When you print the PDF generated from map.army, the printing dialogue box might be automatically scaling the document down. For a 1:25,000 scale map, you need to ensure the document prints at 100% scale (or "actual size"). If the scale is set to a lower percentage, such as 92%, the entire map, including the grid squares, will be slightly smaller than intended. This makes the grid intervals appear too small on your final printed map.
To fix this, before you hit the print button, look for the "Page Scaling" or "Scale" option in your printer's dialogue window and set it to "None" or 100%.
