Today I went to the garden and caught the sanitation guy red handed, stealing my habaneros. I yelled at him and told him the garden was not his. He chuckled and said he only wanted a couple of peppers...I told him tha I wanted my peppers and he threw them (not all) back on the plot. Since he was walking along the fence and checking things out before I caught him, I suspect this has not been the first time he's helped  himself. The other day, someone took my pumpkin off the vine...

who is the "sanitation guy" and what can we do to stop this theft?  I have planted my entire plot and plan to harvest it for my own use (and for others of my own choice).
We need to nip this in the bud.
What can I do to help?

This really sucks, i'm sorry Joanne. We were just talking about that pumpkin, the patience and care going into its cultivation and someone has the gall to take it and possibly return for more. He (or whomever) could apply for a plot like we did and/or grow in their own yards or spaces, or even leave a note asking. What does the leadership/board have to say about this?
I strongly support disciplinary action against the individual and the company. It's more than just a pumpkin.
I've seen other similar situations of people granted trust in a familial space, putting themself first and committing theft. In those situations law enforcement and/or management have rectified the situation immediately and there was closure.
I hope we resolve this and avoid further heartbreak, anger and disappointment.

Sorry to hear that Joanne. I once had a big zucchini plucked from the
vine too, presumably stolen.

Who is this sanitation guy? Was he inside or outside the garden (I
assume inside)? Is he a member? If he isn't a member and was inside,
how did he get in?

Perhaps we should all lock the gate even when we are inside. This
would prevent outsiders from coming in.

Cheers,
James

Apparently he has the combo to the alley entrance so he can clean out the toilet. He was the only one around when I walked up...Peppers and two pumkins taken in less thana week.
