Just thought I let you know that I made a small javascript library for reading Nato Vector Graphics in XML and JSON format and output it as GeoJSON for use in simple webmapping libraries. Thought I would share it here since it might be of use for someone. I didn't really have a use case when I wrote the code, had just read some about NVG and thought it would be fun to write a reader. 

The code is under MIT license and can be found here:

All, for use in civilian public safety applications, I wonder if anyone here has done  or knows of something similar for teardrop or vehicle, etc. icons with, say, included short text?

This library is only for converting the XML or JSON format that is used for NVG information to GeoJSON, if you want to have icons using military standards, I have a library for that as well. 

Examples of usage in CeisumJS
And in Open Layers
