One of my favorite details besides the actual wedding invitations are all of the matching paper goods that are used throughout the entire wedding day. Everything from menus, to welcome signs, to programs to all of the amazing bar details (napkins, cups, stick stirrers and more!).
There are a few items that are more necessary than others and serve a higher purpose when it comes to wedding day stationery. Those are generally seating charts, table numbers, place cards and escort cards. All of these items serve the purpose of making it easier on your guests when they are trying to find where they should be seated for the night.
Place cards are used when you have actual assigned seats, not just assigned tables. They are name cards that are placed at the exact seat your guest needs to sit. This is often done when there are plated dinners and the servers need to know ahead of time which seat gets which meal. With place cards, you will also need a seating chart that tells them what table to go to first, so they can then find their place card at their seat. They place the guest in their seat.
Escort cards are used to tell the guests what table to go to when they arrive at the reception and are usually arranged alphabetically at a central table where the guest can find their name with their table assignment on it. It escorts the guest to their table.
Safety is a key priority at UCLA. UCLA Transportation coordinates efforts with the UCLA Police Department to provide programs, materials and services focused on safety. This page provides information and links relating to those programs.
You can do your part by becoming aware and by always following safe practices. Keeping yourself safe and your belongings secure does not take a lot of time or effort. Simply learn some basics, be aware of your surroundings and change the behaviors that could mark you as an easy target for crime.
The UCLA Police Department provides a free walking escort service every day of the year from dusk until 1 a.m. They are available to walk students, faculty, staff members and visitors to and from anywhere on campus, in Westwood Village, and in the village apartments. Contact the UCLA Police Department to report a crime or other incident on campus, or to receive immediate help. You can contact the UCLA Police Department, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week at (310) 825-1491. This office also has information about reporting "hate crimes".
As a safe alternative to walking alone at night, the CSA Safety Escort program is a 24-hour complimentary service for members of the UCI community. Safety escorts are provided to the following locations:
In 2019, the Legislature amended RCW 88.16 and RCW 88.46 to reduce threats of oil spills to Southern Resident Killer Whales. The amendments directed Ecology to develop an oil spill risk model and deliver two reports to the Legislature by September 2023: an analysis of an emergency response towing vessel (ERTV) for Haro Strait, Boundary Pass, and Rosario Strait; and an analysis of tug escorts for specified tank vessels.
The tug escort analysis evaluated changes in oil spill risk by comparing the ability of tug escorts to respond when tank vessels lose propulsion and are in danger of drifting aground. We modeled three scenarios:
During model and analysis development, we prioritized robust outreach with tribes, stakeholders, and the public. We held more than 25 events attended by more than 200 individual attendees affiliated with over 150 different organizations, and answered over 300 questions with real time and written responses.
Both transportation options offer on-demand van service within the UAB footprint. To use Blaze Ride, employees must register with AWARE; students must register with Disability Support Services. ONE Cards are required to ride.
If the Blazer Express Safety Escort is not available, call UAB Police at 934-4434, or you may use a HELP Phone to request an escort for your personal safety.
