Genesis 3:1-8
God is aware of His children’s needs and will take care of them all in His way and on His timetable. But now and then it can be tempting to want to go our own way, perhaps to hurry along a desired outcome. However, it’s essential not to push ahead of God or follow a route that leads away from Him.
Some people think their security rests in bank accounts, prestige, relationships, or possessions (Ps. 20:7). But that’s just not the case (Matt. 6:19-21). Only when we base our life on the security that is ours in Christ will we have peace of both mind and heart.
The Enemy wants us to provide for ourselves in a way that is independent of God and out of line with His will. Implying that the Lord was keeping some important information from them, Satan deceived Adam and Eve by suggesting his course of action, not the Creator’s, would make them wise. The first man and woman exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and it cost them dearly. If we allow wrong thinking to direct our actions, we, too, can get ourselves into a lot of trouble.
It’s important to have a clear understanding of all the good things we’ve received through our relationship with Jesus. Learning to depend on Him will help us avoid wrong approaches to getting what we need.
