Thank you for the picture. It came to me at just the right time, as I know you intended. There you are, last picture in an old scrapbook, showing me where you are. Cementing my declaration. At once a moment of exhilarating excitement to see you unabashedly declare yourself, and then a smile for the peace of knowledge. I am surrounded by non-believers and as I try to explain why I know where you are, I am challenged. I knew, and now I really know.
Happy Birthday. Thirty-eight. I don't want to count anymore. Too many. And yet none. We missed you at your party tonight. Christmas Eve was always your birthday. It is not the same now. I know you saw the fun and laughter in the young cousins.Just like you used to do. Life repeating itself.
