Solace on the Summer Solstice
5 years ago today, my friend Mike Brownstein passed away. Normally, I
shut down when I think about this. But, this year, I am happy. I
realize that Mike is still with me, laughing with me, challenging me,
making me feel comfortable in situations way out of my league.

I went to his brother-in-law Peter Byrne's bachelor party in Vegas
(awesome!), his sister Katie Brownstein's wedding in Malibu, and the
moments I spend with his parents Troas Hayes Brownstein and Mark
Brownstein are meaningful and magical.

5 years ago today, my travel companion, my biggest champion, my most
beautiful friend left this fickle world. Luckily, he was always much
more than the prettiest person in the room. His spirit lives on
through me, through all of us who love him. Thank you, Mike
Brownstein, for everything you continue to do to make my life better.
