Dear Michael,

Another year. Sixteen now. Time is going so fast, drawing me closer to you, my mother, father and step father. Maggie, too. I talk to you all.

I am looking at a picture used for your memorial in 2008 at Princeton Reunion. It is a picture of you taken at your roommate and dear friend, Louis Beryl's wedding. In the Spring of 2007 you  flew back from China to be a groomsman, your last time on US soil. You look thinner. The collar of your tux shirt looks big at the neck. You look pale. Your eyes are not sparkling, as they normally did. You wanted to come home and you asked me, around this time, "Mom, when can I come home?"

You came home on June 20, 2007. I am so sorry, Michael. I am so pained to think that your dad and I got in the way of your own life's dreams. Please forgive us.

I love you forever,
Mommy

Miss you buddy.
Ran into Dummit last week and texted with Larkin yesterday.
Having dinner with Fung, Kfir and Ravi in a couple weeks.
You are the bonding force.
Please have a few laughs with my pops.

Thanks Troas for sharing. I of course remember that last trip well and we had so much fun together. As always Mike was the life of the party - miss him so much.

Love you buddy.

MIke - we returned to Princeton Reunions this past year and carried you with us on our lapel pin. You were there as we danced unabashedly to DJ Bob with friends!

Our Michael (7 years old) swam in his first swim meet of the summer on Wednesday. He was nervous but so proud afterwards. At school he's friends with all the girls. I think he inherited your good looks :)

Thinking of you always!

With love,
Louise
