Hi all,

The Following list has been prepared by Ashish for SWOT analysis of the proposed charter to be done today. People gather and share as many resources as evidence to defend your argument. By the end of the day we will propose amendments to the charter or might even vote for an alternative structure. Also, all the resources shall be shared on dropbox ( expecting 10-12 resource per attendee , it could be a publication, research article, anything relevant to debate structure and policy making. GIve us an intimation once you are ready.

Topics for discussion and debate, which have broadly affected the politics of India-

1) Presidential system over English Westminster model- Should India move to a presidential system rather than westminster model which many blame, has been the reason for policy paralysis in the country.

2) Arjun Sengupta’s Report (Former Chairman, National Commission for Enterprises in Unorganised Sector)- which says that 836 million people in india live on less than 20 rupees a day.

3) Economic Reforms in India- this is a very broad aspect to discuss with, but the relevance is present decision by the govt. to introduce FDI and other reforms to reforms of 1991 where indian markets were open to the world. How have these reforms transformed India not only economically but politically also.

4) Liberhan Commission’s  report on Ayodhya, Mandal Commission, Tendulkar committee and other such committees which have been the centre point of the discussions.

5) Article 370- which grants special right to J&K.

6) India’s foreign policy - Moving from Non Alignment to Multi Alignment in 21st century?

7) Women reservation Bill- passed in Rajya sabha but pending in Lok sabha.

8) Food Security Bill- How much time will India take to be hunger free?

9) Should democracy be practised within limits- Use or misuse of laws to curb the opinion of the people( like law of sedition).

10) Lokpal bill- After RTI will this bring more transparency or will only add to the annual budget?
