We study fundamental electrochemical problems through nanoscale science and technology. Our primary focus is on electrochemical energy conversion, but focus areas also include biosensors and bio-nanomaterials. Research in our lab is highly interdisciplinary and overlaps with material science, biochemistry, microbiology, biotechnology and analytical chemistry. MICRA brings together researchers working across the field of inorganic chemistry. Attendees are expected to be at an early stage in their career. This includes early career academics, independent research fellows and experienced postdoctoral researchers.
All attendees are encouraged to give short presentations on their work in order to introduce themselves to the community and potentially inspire new collaborations. The meeting is a great opportunity to get to know the early career researchers across the UK working in inorganic chemistry.
In 2024, MICRA will be held at the University of Leicester from 9-11 September. Leicester has a strong history of inorganic chemistry and is a friendly city, bursting with heritage and culture.
Along with oral presentations from the delegates, we will also host plenary speakers from experienced members of the inorganic chemistry community. We will also hold a Q&A session to give advice and help answer those burning questions that early career researchers may have.
Experimental Physics major emphasis prepares students to independently design experiments to test physical models and communicate the results of experimentation in a variety of authentic forms in the discipline, including written articles, formal oral presentations, and informal dialogues.
Students majoring in Physics are eligible to declare a major emphasis in chemical physics. Students will learn to describe and apply the fundamental tools and knowledge of organic and inorganic chemistry and demonstrate core chemistry and physics laboratory and analysis skills.
