Hi
I wonder if anyone else has had a similar problem as one we are facing here in Kenya. We are seeing that in the table ‘loan_arrears_aging’ some clients are showing that they have 1 day in arrears yet when I view the client account from the front end the client shows zero days in arrears, and in fact has a prepayment on the account so they are definitely not in arrears. Since we are using the data in the table loan_arrears_aging for our reporting this is causing some incorrect reporting of arrears. Some additional details to support this issue. I’ve already logged it in Jira since I’m quite sure it is a bug but thought I’d try here for any other feedback as well. Appreciate any feedback from other mifos users.
Regards
Geraldine
eg
There are 46 clients who are shown as 1 day in arrears in the table loan_arrears_aging

Investigating details, clients have 0 days in arrears from the front end and have actualy cleared the April installment and partly prepaid the May installment
Example
AccountID - 000200000000195
The query statement for client ID 000200000000195 from loan_arrears_aging shows that the column days_in_arrears is 1

The client 000200000000195 from the front end shows that the days in arrears as 0

The loan schedule for the client 000200000000195 shows that the client has cleared the April installment and partly paid the May installment interest.
This client is therefore not in arrears

Additional query, confirming all those 46 clients with 1 days in arrears are in the same situation, i.e. prepaid May instalment

System settings –there is same results in the days in arrears whether lateness definition is 1 or 0.

Hi Geraldine,
Thanks so much for the detailed bug report in JIRA and description below. We will try to get this bug fixed in the next release of Mifos. Since you reported it in jira, you’ll get automatic updates on the issue status as we begin working on the bug. Of course, if your MFI wants the bug fixed faster—they are welcome to purchase a support contract. J (Follow-up with me offline if you’re interested in pricing).
I’ll let others in the community chime in—but I haven’t heard any others report this particular issue. However, many MFI don’t allow for prepayments—so perhaps that’s why we haven’t heard of the problem. I do know that one MFI recently reported several issues with our Branch Progress report. One of those issues more clients were displaying in 1 week arrears than there should have been. I’ll email them to see if they allow prepayments:

Hi Geraldine,
Wanted to let you know that the MFI that did report issues with our arrears reporting in the Branch Progress report does, in fact, allow for pre-payments. So I suspect the issue you discovered is also causing the problem in one of our own reports.
We are planning to look at/fix the branch progress report during the next iteration (starting Monday)—so you should see updates to your bug report shortly.
Emily.
