Hi everyone,

I'm Pushpendra, a student developer working on the Mifos Web app in the GSoC'23 program. As part of my new task to redesign the account dashboard page, we are embedding the Apache Superset dashboard into our dashboard page. Superset is a business intelligence web application that provides us the ability to visualize data through a variety of charts, and other tools accessible from a Superset Dashboard.

I'm hoping to get your advice on the charts that we should include in our dashboard. I'm particularly interested in hearing your thoughts on the following questions:

  • What type of charts would be most helpful for users to understand the data?
  • What metrics should we track?

Any feedback you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks and Regards, Pushpendra Kumar

Adding back the mifos-developer list as that's the primary place where this discussion should reside given these changes will be to the Mifos X Web-App codebase but they do impact Fineract users.

Pushpendra,

Thanks for taking up this valuable and long-awaited task. It's been on the roadmap to improve the dashboards, charts and visualizations in the UI that system users (primarily management and operations) can see for quite some time now.

Inzemamul,

Pushpendera will be using Apache Superset as the framework in which to embed dashboards and other visualizations for operational and business performance metrics related to the portfolio and financial services managed by Fineract/Mifos. It would replace D3 which was being used on the community app but isn't the best option going forward. Dashboards are viewable from the homescreen when logging into the UI and we aim to provide role-based dashboards which provide a relevant view for the various users into the performance and metrics on the customers being served. i.e. display of total loans outstanding, display of portfolio in arrears, total funds collected for the day, etc.

See screenshot of current Dashboards:

Pushpendra was seeking input on what specific tables, graphs, charts, dashboards, visualizations, managerial users would like to display on these dashboards. So if any users has sample dashboards they could share, lists of metrics and datapoints they would like to see covered, etc these will be incorporated into the initial set of dashboards embedded via Apache Superset.

You can reply to this thread or add comments on this ticket: https://github.com/openMF/web-app/issues/1649

We will pull together the feedback into a wiki page.

A previous ticket has links to some of the sources of data for the previous dashboard (unfortunately the mockup links are no longer active).

Issues w a Mifos project should be discussed over there.

If there are new tickets or design concepts that surface and must be discussed w Fineract, then that’s when it comes here to d...@fineract.Apache.org

It’s also appropriate for those building on top of Fineract to explain that they’re building.  That said , the process of gathering requirements is probably best kept elsewhere.

Thanks
