[Mifos-developer] Mifos 21.07.01 Release Update

Hello Everyone,

We are pleased to inform you that Mifos has officially released the latest version(21.07.01) of the Community-app and Web-app(BETA) for Fineract 1.5.0.

The key Highlight is that we have included the Pentaho Reporting Plug-in which will help all the organizations and users to continue the use of Pentaho as a part of the Mifos Application.

Congratulations on this significant set of improvements! 

Not since Mifos X update in 2018 have we gotten so much aligned. 

Fineract 1.5 was a major effort and built on top of improvements in Fineract since it was brought over from MifosX (core banking back end) . 

With this release it appears the leaders at this Community have managed a major effort to once again align the technologies.

Nice work Bharath on guiding this release to fruition. As James noted, it was much needed to synchronize the Mifos reference solution (UI and reporting) with the back-end Fineract.

Thank you for providing such thorough links to the underlying source code and the production builds where people can contribute or deploy respectively. 

Thank you to community members like Francis, Luis, Aleks, and Michael who helped get the external reporting service incorporated into the release. 

Community, 

We are already in discussion with a number of contributors on valuable functional contributions to Fineract for the next release cycles.

Hi Tom,

In short, these are the steps

1. Replace the 'fineract-provider.war' and 'ROOT' folder present in the tomcat/webapp folder with the downloaded 21.07.01 files

2. Delete the existing fineract-provider folder

3. DB backup to restore in case of an upgrade failure.

4. Upgrade all the prerequisite software.

5. restart the server

In the coming days, we will be adding a document on upgrade too for ease of use to the community.

Would like to take this as an opportunity to invite any interested contributors to help with the document creation.

I have a question, the Mifos X 21.07.01 has a folder inside named pentaholibs which inside there is .jar files. Are these files placed inside /tomcat/libs?

The jars should be placed inside 'tomcat\webapps\fineract-provider\WEB-INF\lib'

I have been silent but let me give u a few simple steps (on the assumption u are using tomcat 9 to deploy). also assuming that your Java is version  15.0.2 as per your environment settings 

1- Install the War and root folder
2- start tomcat and then stop it 
3- now take the pentaho reports and place them in the ~.mifosx/pentahoReports
4- now take the jars and put them inside C:\tomcat9\webapps\fineract-provider\WEB-INF\lib 

restart the tomcat

If you read  down its comments section you notice that  @David Alozie David managed to install on 20.4 reaching out to him might be a better option at the moment as he has not yet done the write-up for it. 
I am currently caught up in a few things here and there but i wanted to make the write-up for Ubuntu 20 as well. So working with David might help in getting that resolved

Do we have a demo instance already running version 21.07.01 with Pentaho reports running?

 

Kindly share link and credentials if there is and also confirm the environments this instance is running on.

 

I tried logging in to https://staging.mifos.io but am getting Couldn't connect to server. Make sure you are using correct settings.
