[Mifos-developer] Mifos X Android Client

Devs,
If I can recall previous threads, we were to have a new version of Mifos X Android Client released on Google Play.
This version is to work with the Fineract Platform as the current one can only work with old version on mifosng-provider.
Kindly advise how soon this can be released or provide a link where we can download the .apk file, we have quite a number of MFIs highly affected by this. Their field agents can’t use the application anymore and some of the MFIs have invested in these gadgets for their staff which are now seen as irrelevant.
Still on the same, there was an issue that was being addressed of the app freezing whenever you make a savings withdrawal or deposit. Not sure if this has been resolved now.

Thanks for your response.
While it is good to have new functionalities added to the application, I don’t think completely shutting down users to use the app is a good idea.
When we moved to the fineract platform, the android app couldn’t connect as the login URL was pointing to https://[public_dns]/mifosng-provider/api/v1 .
I raised this issue and requested for the URL to be changed so as to work with /fineract-provider which could enable our users continue with the app as new features were being developed.
Quite a number of MFIs were using the app in the field to check dues for their clients so as to avoid printing reports and carry them to the field and are now on our neck as they were forced to go back to the paper methods.
Rajan, kindly send the APK file. Will get our MFI users test it with their production environment so as to get proper user feedback.

Our Google Summer of Code intern, Rajan Maurya, has been making some extensive enhancements to the Android client - he's completely refactored the codebase, been fixing bugs from the previous new enhancements that have been made by outreachy interns, adding in widespread offline functionality, and creating additional new functionalities.
We likely won't ship a new release via Google Play until he's completed his work but we could have him send along an APK that you could use for testing in the meanwhile.
Rajan/Ishan - does that sound like that approach will work?
