Hi all,

Both Gaurav and Ishan have given their replies on why they'd like to attend the reunion and what they'd contribute long term to Mifos.

Please reply to Nayan and myself with either Gaurav or Ishan as your choice for the student delegate based on their response to the question and their overall contributions thus far.

Thanks,

Ed

Ishan:

Why you want to attend the GSOC reunion?
-> Eternal Dream of any Android Developer to be at Google's Office in USA.
-> This is probably is the best opportunity any developer in the world can get to enhance his/her network in the Open Source Tech Space. You get to meet like minded developers sharing a similar ambition as that of yours.
-> I've always wanted to be in USA not for a vacation but to explore and embrace tech there. Unfortunately we don't have Technology so cheap here in India. In fact we don't anything here! No Google Glass ! No Tile! No Chromecast! Aren't these reasons great? :P  (For we will get a chance to be at one of the Google Stores as well during the reunion :D )

Wether I get selected or not. The below answer will imply as is, and will not affect my Zeal

What are your long term goals with Mifos X and the community are?
-> I would like to take the android-client to new heights as this is going to be my project that i'll boast off while selling myself to any of my future employers.

-> I want to Lead the Android Development of this Mifos Android Client. I am planning to get a few volunteers for this project post GSOC from my college when they reopen in August 2nd Week. This will allow me to focus on making the app more intuitive. Because howsoever the powerful the app may be in respect to the functionality built, if it won't be intuitive its of no use to an end user. I want to spend time on making things smooth. It should be no less than the Hangouts or Facebook or Twitter apps that you have on your Nexus.

Gaurav:

Why you want to attend the GSOC reunion and what your long term goals with Mifos X and the community are?

I want to attend GSOC reunion is to meet and interact with the awesome people from around the world. This is one of the best place where you will get a chance to talk and learn from geeks and smart people around you. Most Important I can get in contact from a lot of great developers. I have opportunity to collaborate and code with some of them and learn new things. Also, If got chance I would love to meet Ed, Vishwas and Nayan during the trip.

About my long term goals with Mifos X and Community, I would continue with my contribution to the Community App, as I think we can improve the app more and make it a one of perfect example of large scale angular app. Mainly I would like to implement lazy-loading and UI-router in the app in future, but still think at the same time as Angular 2 dev docs seems to be a lot more promising which might help us from some of our current issues.
Although the mobile Android App is already building up. I still love to contribute the Ionic/Cordova app as it will get us iPhone app and other platform app using same code-base.
One of my goal is to be in top of the Github community-app repository contributers's list, I regularly follow my rank there currently #7 :)

Hey Ed,

I think both Ishan and Gaurav have done a good job with their respective projects.

We should probably think about a "Consolation" prize for whoever does not get selected for the GSOC meetup. How about flying them to the MifosX meet in Uganda?

Regards,
Vishwas
