Late last year some of us in Ann Arbor were talking about having joint
meet up with another ruby brigade. The thought was we would aim to do
it in the summer when the weather was nicer to make driving easier.
This idea eventually evolved into having it on a weekend over
someone's house and making a BBQ of it.

I just saw that Jerry Richardson was planning on doing a Midwest Ruby
Group Summer 2009 Tour.

It took me a while, but eventually I connected the two ideas.

Why don't we have a MidWest.rb Summer Picnic? Open to all the various
ruby brigades in the midwest/greatlakes/whatever area.

So how about it?

I've created a google moderator topic over at: http://moderator.appspot.com/#16/e=6ce70
so we can track and vote on ideas, dates, and locations.

Please pass this on to your local user group and see if they'd like to
join.

Sounds like a good time! I'm sure I could get some Indy.rb-ers
interested (http://indyrb.org).

I suppose we should start by choosing a city, eh? Fort Wayne is
sorta / kinda in between Indy, Columbus, Cincinnati, Ann Arbor, and
South Bend, right? (I'm sorry if I left a city out -- I just did a
quick scan of the Local Meets page, and added Jerry's home Ruby
Brigade South Bend, and added in mine, Indy.) Anyone live there and
have a big backyard and a grill? Haha.

Incidentally, Jerry stopped by Indy.rb last week (May 13th). After a
shaky start to the meeting (we now hate projectors), I think it went
pretty well. I'd like to think it was a good sign that he came out
afterward for a beer.

I'm stoked to find this group. I'm not sure how I missed it before
now.
