I came across an interesting project looking for Erlang and web
application related topics. I found a web server completed created in
Erlang and claims to take advantage of it's concurrency. Is this the
method that Erlang web applications are served? Are there any open
source web applications already available programmed in Erlang?

Dunno,

I know they have this open-source OTP thing that has a web server, ftp server, and other stuff that can be used as the base. Also, there is Yaws, apparently written in erlang, and then there is also this:

which is what I was mentioning earlier.

Although, I would prefer writing the web framework from the ground up, that way, we can really get into the thick of it.

On the other hand, might be fun to just ride the rollercoaster and try to ease on in.

I completely agree. It will be both a learning experience and way to
make sure we know what is going on in the background. Would we use
YAWS or program that ourselves too?
