Greetings Makers!
This Saturday is our "Spring" Cleaning of the space! (Yes, it's been summer for a week, hey - we've been busy!).
We encourage the members to come out and give us a hand. We have a lot of work to do. Please wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty, torn, greasy, etc. There will be lots of dust and debris flying. We will have some N95 masks available, but if you have a particular mask/respirator you prefer for dirty work like this, go ahead and bring it. Same with gloves - we have a box full of gloves, but if you have a personal pair you prefer, bring it.
There will be free pizza for everyone who gives us a hand.
We have several goals, and some stretch goals that we'd really like to get done:
Priorities:
1) Clear the overhead above the catacombs and member shelves.
- We need multiple people for this both in the overhead and on the ground. - Rene will manage this task
2) Prune back the catacombs, especially of scrap metal that can't be used by the metalworkers
3) Lower the green cart the drill presses are on so it (and the presses) are at a usable height
3) General top-to-bottom cleaning
4) Straighten up and reorganize the Nerdery (there is an overhaul of the Nerdery planned for the next few weeks, but this will be the start) - Myself and Dana will be working on this
5) Straighten up the Classroom and get rid of the excess chairs so the items in the closet are accessible again.
"Stretch Goals"
1) Clean up and prune the laser/CNC project pieces
2) Prune the hand tools and get rid of excess quantities, damaged or unusable tools and reorganize the tools to make them useful
3) Prune and organize the rolling tool chests on either side of the lounge door
We will be setting up a staging area in front of the garage door for all the metal going to the scrapyard. We will need someone with a truck or a flatbed trailer to go down to the scrapyard during the weekday. We ask that no one park in the space in front of the garage door so we have easy access to the dumpster for the duration of the clean-up.
If we are going to throw something out or donate it, you are welcome to have it instead, but it MUST leave with you or it goes into the dumpster. Any items on the Lost and Found shelf by Saturday Morning will be either thrown out or placed into the catacombs.
Come on out and lets get the space cleaned up! We look forward to seeing all of you on Saturday!
