Would anyone else be interested in this? It's a variety of generic crafting ceramic molds (piggy banks, vases, etc) it's laid out on 2 pallets. He is supposed to forward a picture along later. If there is interest and we can find room, I'm willing to go down there this afternoon if they are still available.

I have two pallets full of ceramic molds used for casting and firing ceramic items in a kiln. I no longer have the kiln, but have all these molds left over, as the person taking the kiln did not want them. If you would like them, they are free for the taking. They are taking up space in my warehouse and I need them gone. If you are interested, please let me know, either by email or calling/texting me at 901-494-1937.

If you want them, you have to take them all. Please don't just pick out one or two. I need to have these gone by Friday, October 12th, or at least have someone make arrangements with me by then. After that date, they'll be tossed in the dumpster. I hate to do that, as these were my grandmother's, but I just have no use for them. If you know of someone, perhaps a crafts center or school interested in them, please have them contact me.

Thank you.

So far I'm slated to pick these up tomorrow morning. All else fails I'll shove them in my attic. If anyone wants to help transport or ride with let me know.

They'd definitely be a good thing to have with the new kiln. Can't
help transport in the morning, but could help later in the afternoon.

Not to try and be a show stopper or anything, but just a reminder to keep this in mind. The inside of the kiln is approximately 12x12x9, so whatever molds we get just need to fit in that. There's already a few up at the space with the kiln now if you'd like to look and see an idea of what size molds assuredly work in it.

The molds are for the objects to be fired in the kiln or wherever. They don't fit in the kiln. You take clay slip and pour ur molds to be fired when taken out of the molds....

While you may have caught me there, that doesn't change the size of what you can fit into the kiln. So without the mold you may gain some space, you still can't put an object to be fired bigger than 12x12x9 in it. And probably a little smaller than that to provide some room between the walls and item to be fired. Or am I wrong there as well :P

Oh, u are spot on! Now, if we had an extension to go on between the lid, we could raise the length, but u are absolutely correct with gauging the objects produced by said molds with the kiln firing dimensions.
Also, I know that ceramic molds and the product produced is rather unconventional than most molding techniques. I wasn't trying to start a smarty pants "gotcha" type of comment, so apologies if I came across like that.
As most members know, my expertise is greatly lacking in technology, but I can school in art techniques and theory .... Lmao. .

I did not know that, Ben.  Guess I'm not schooling anyone or thing after all :p

The kiln is under the lathe right now on the big rolling bench if you'd like to take a look at it.  The lid is hinged so in order to extend it we'd have to do something about that, something that is presumably a bit more trouble to do.

I do believe that there is some small amount of extra materials up there right now.  Something in a bottle and something in a tupperware container.  What each is I don't know exactly.  Mary may be able to speak to it a little better.

Thanks,

Daniel H.

One is slip, the other is slip drippings that she saved (stuff  that overflowed)  At least, that was my understanding.

OH GOD THE SPIDER CARCASSES AND EGG SACS!

I'm in the process of photographing the ceramic molds that I picked up today. Once I have them all identified I'll put the pictures and descriptions in the wiki. There are a ton of smaller molds and what looks to be a good selection of ashtrays and assorted fruits and vegetables. I know Zoe would have some fun making her own ceramics (there's a cat mold!), then painting them. Perhaps we'll get a couple of classes out of this. I'll be storing them at my house for the time being, If there's interest and space it'd be nice to get them put up safe and out of the way somewhere at the space.
