There is a TV and a metal and plastic light box on the metal workbench along the north wall of the shop. If you are planning on doing something with these items please move them into member storage in the house, into the salvage room if they are available for use or dispose of them. We will be starting another cleaning/organizing push in the shop. Ben and Dan will be taming the unruly beast our shop storage room has become. Please make sure that you leave your personal items in the member storage area of the house and return any shop tools and materials back to their locations.

Thanks!
Claudio

Dru, is that TV one I brought? I'd still like to do that hack we talked about. I have another TV to use if that one is the one you were using.

Yup, that's the one. It should still function, it just needs to be claimed or put away.

No yours got dropped and died, that one I need to figure some place to hang it for "PARTY MODE". I still have all the stuff to do another one.  ( Stereo )

Member storage is kinda full, like to see it cleaned up before shop...  Esp sice I have stuff drying in that area in the shop and theres been a lack of consideration previously about member projects, and equipment "Still missing my laptop power supply for the gateway laptop" .  With that said, can we kill off some old looming projects.... Ms. Pac Man, Treveshey?

Also I noticed more tools missing including my tool box and screw box I had. If any one see these please put them by the TV. I don't mind the snagging of a screw here and there but the whole box was a refill I did not too long ago and cost me about $30.

The tech bench and the big desk can they go soon? Can the projection TV's have something happen to them as well? Can MAME be moved away from the tables to the storage are in the shop? I think we just got a little disorginized, me included.

Sorry about the rant just wanted to throw some of the random thoughts I have while navigating stuff.
I do not mean to pick on or offend anyone.

I believe the right side of member storage is still a bit of a graveyard. It should probably be moved into the storeroom or where ever else it should go.

What's to kill off with the Ms PacMan? That project has been finished over a year and seems to be a good fit for where it currently resides in the library.

Dan & Ben have been working on Electronics bench (last night as a matter of fact) and I think there are a lot of other things to note before something as recent as the bench.

I think we need to clearly mark our tools so we can differentiate between the spaces tools, and personal tools. This includes screws, nails, and any other consumable type item left in the shop.

I think what keeps happening is one person leaves something out and without a note or any explanation and it just spirals out of control from there. I think we all need to just keep picking up after each other and start leaving notes about what is what. If you leave something drying, leave a note on it / near it. If you leave a box of screws, put your name on it, put a note on it "free to use but please replace" or "Mine, don't use". The screws probably were used since they were unlabeled (last time I saw a box of screws up there) and it was likely assumed they were the group's screws so they were free to use.

Communication is key. Leave notes. Send emails.

Let me see where I can chime in on some of this and help add further light to the situation.  I apologize in advance for any unintentional harsh tone, as well as the length of it.

The original request that was made was in no means an attempt to single anyone out, point fingers, place blame, accuse, start a witch hunt, or give someone an arrow to the knee.  The email was sent per my request, and my request was started simply for the fact that Ben and I are working on solving a problem that we have in abundant quantities in the space.  We've got no where really designated and proper to store anything in a tidy manner.  The only catch is the one immutable fact that between he and I we only have but so much time and availability to get anything done.  As much as we would love to, it wont happen instantaneously.  So presented with a dilemma with the lack of instant gratification for us, we either have to start somewhere or get so overwhelmed with it all and start no where.  I'm opting for the first of those two options.  And thus we are starting on that side of the shop and going to progress our way around cleaning up other abandoned and delinquent projects as time permits us.  Hopefully before too long we'll have a much more organized setup to not have tools and other things jumbled across the shop.

Now, I'm not to just blast back at you Dru, but it does sound very much like you're trying to make a statement of "it's ok that I do it because everyone else does."  We definitely don't have anything to gain as a group by taking that approach on anything.  Some of the things you have mentioned are indeed good points, are an issue, and were just not included on the original email because they are further down on the list of all the things to fix.  We just haven't gotten there yet.

I do believe you've thrown some items that have been there considerably longer than others into one conglomeration of parts and projects.  I think it is very important that we distinguish between projects that are actively being worked on and various peoples projects and things that have been sitting for so long I don't even remember when it was last moved. Whether you meant for your point to come off that way or not, it provides a good opportunity for everyone to sit back and think about something.  I think we should all do due diligence to pay attention to what we each have stored at the space as project (or parts for projects) and make sure they don't sit for ever and junk up the place any worse than it is.  I also hope that we can all attempt to clean up after ourselves as well as make sure that we're not leaving projects incomplete for months on end, tools (borrowed, space, or personal) scattered about.  It is all a shared space, and as such we cannot get by without doing our best to be considerate of the others we impact.

I personally believe that once time has allowed us to get some of the planned things the board has for the space and shop done, everyone will be pleased.  It will still be dependent upon us all doing our part to put tools and other things away in a reasonable time frame, but it should be drastically easier at that point.  I think everyone can agree we desperately need to have somewhere to ACTUALLY put stuff away.

Thanks,

Daniel H.

I would like to make a suggestion, if I may.  It's neigh impossible to mark each set of individual's tools, so I'd recommend getting some blue electrical tape and put it around the handle of each piece of group equipment so it signifies what's available to use and what isn't.

A cheaper and better solution would be a letter die set. Stamp the metal tools, heat up the stamp and press it on plastic handle tools. I've been meaning to stamp all of my tools this way.

I worked on cleaning up the shop a bit. Not sure who claims the Light box since John is less active. If no one claims it, then may I put it in the salvage room?

Theres an oven in th shop thats been there for as long as I can remember. Can this be moved to member salvage?

I'm guessing you're talking about the one by the heater? I figured the little one you were using for the acrylic would be good to use for a couple of things.

If it is the big one, I know it's had various plans but Ben and I had talked about dismantling it and getting it out of the way as soon as we can get to it.

Sorry was at lunch and didn't answer the other question there.  Yes, if no one claims it let's put it in the salvage room.

Thanks,
