Guys,
Last year while flying at Tom Boice's farm we had a visitor from Caesar Creek Township. Mr Andy Bledsoe is a trustee of that Township and inquired if we would like to utilize their Township Park for our flying activities. The Park is at 2034 E Spring Valley Paintersville Road in Xenia, Ohio 45385. For reference that is 4 miles south of Tom Boice's residence on Route 68. You can see pictures of the facility including the clubhouse with a google search. Several members of the DARTs and Moss Clubs visited that facility after the recent News Year fun fly. The facility and field appear adequate with only one close neighborhood house. The members who congregated there put in place initial plans for conducting an initial contest there this coming April. However there are power lines going down the road next to that facility. To lend some perspective I studied the distance to power lines from several fields which resulted in the following:
Twin Towers 780 feet, House Mountain Rc Knoxville 640 Feet, Havner Park Columbus 670 feet, Caesar Creek Township 340 feet.
Therefore the question before the groups is this. Knowing that the new proposed field in Caesar Creek Township has 340 foot distance to telephone pole power lines, should we pursue it as a flying site. For wind reference the lines are south west of the flying site. Let me know what you think. Thanks.
