Hi guys,
You have all been interested or involved in the progress of clocks for DARTS and MOSS.
So, all parts are in hand and being put to use. You should have seen Joe S work on the first clock; looks great. Close to ready for testing.
I had been trying to sort out the transceiver issues. Recap: the transceivers, eByte E32-DTU, I used are no longer available, had two orders for them cancelled. In the end, just as well. I ordered the newer E90 version for DARTS/MOSS, they work great right out of the box, no extra setup to eliminate lag between audio/visual on the computer and the display clock as with the E32. I opened up my small clock replaced my E32 receiver with the E90 to verify all’s well. Perfect, no lag.
New E90 piggybacked on the small clock for testing.
The worry was that my big clock and small round/group clock would not compatible with the E90. Turns out they are not. I noticed that GliderScore shows two different USB outputs. I hoped that I could simply use the older E32 that I have and that Steve/Louisville have to transmit from the “extra” USB. First attempts at that failed with error messages. As I often do, I asked Gerry Carter ( GS author) for advice. He said that GS should output to both USBs. As usual he researched and found the WIN 11 will allow for identical device IDs. The process to get there and find the error is long and boring. Suffice it to say, if both transceivers are powered up and plugged in when GS is opened, WIN and GS are happy. Both transceivers work as intended. The result of this is that my clocks and Steve’s clocks will work with the MOSS/DARTS clocks. Both transceivers have to be connected to the GS computer but most WIN laptops have two USB outputs. So mix and match is all good. My little round/group clock/display is working as it should also.
Next steps; finish clocks, test, design and build stands. Test and done; yippee.
Happy winter soaring adventures.
