There are two main ways to toggle Midnight Lizard on the current website: with keyboard shortcut Alt+Shift+L and by clicking on the website's name in the Midnight Lizard's settings popup.

Thanks, but is there a way to whitelist a URL, like the following?

I don't want Midnight Lizard on Google Maps, and Google Sheets/Docs/etc., but I do want it on all other Google services. And toggling manually when I go back and forth between tabs is a pain.

Thanks. : )

Sure, there is.
If you are using default color scheme on all Google websites then you just need to put those exact url patterns as you provided into "Exclude match patterns" ("Activation" tab) when Default color scheme is selected and press "Save".
Otherwise if you have different color schemes on different or all Google websites you need to visit them one by one and put the same url patterns there and press "Apply" or "Save" depending on what buttons would be available in your case.

This is still very confusing, and I have a very difficult time getting different color schemes to work for different google sites/services.

Here's what I am attempting to do:

Anytime any page matching https://www.google.com/maps/* is loaded, I want a color scheme I saved named "GoogleMaps" to be loaded.
Anytime any page matching https://www.google.com/search* is loaded, I want a color scheme I saved named "GoogleSearch" to be loaded.
Anytime any page matching https://docs.google.com/document/* is loaded, I want a color scheme I saved named "GoogleDocs" to be loaded.
Anytime any page matching https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/*  is loaded, I want a color scheme I saved named "GoogleSheets" to be loaded.
For any other google site/service (e.g. https://mail.google.com/mail/* or https://www.google.com/advanced_search), I don't want ANY color scheme to be loaded by Midnight Lizard, and it should effectively be disabled, thus making no change to the site's color scheme, and displaying it as it would appear without the extension activated.

I think the thing that is unclear to me is what exactly using the "exclude match patterns" does. e.g. if I enter https://groups.google.com/* for the exclude pattern for a color scheme called "NoGoogleGroups", and have nothing entered in the "include match patterns" list, would that make the extension try to load the color scheme for every site except for google groups pages? And what if I have that scheme selected when viewing a google groups page and click the apply button?

IMO, having two separate mechanisms for selecting/applying color schemes (manually toggling, and via inclusive/exclusive pattern matching) is very confusing, and muddles the usability of the extension.

In other words, if I use the shortcut or click the toggle to apply a color scheme on  https://www.google.com , and the green checkmark is displayed in the UI before the domain name, then the URL should automatically be added in the "include match patterns" list for that color scheme to improve transparency (being able to see that the selected scheme will be activated when the URL is matched). This is sort of how the Dark Reader extension does it; making it easier to see the list of sites that will be included/excluded (depending on which list is selected - either "invert listed only" or "not invert listed").

In any case, please help me to better understand how exclude matching works, and let me know exactly how to make the extension work in its current state to change color schemes for the different google sites/services I mentioned, while also keeping the extension disabled for the other google sites as described above.

Thank you!
Mike
